The Norincos say that the 1911A1 clone has forged steel construction(frame and slide) for superior strength and chrome-lined barrel for longer bore life; Foremore, the Sig clone(NP22\NP34) with aluminum alloy frame should fire at least 10000 rounds in a lifetime.
But some users say that it is not the truth:their barrels of 1911A1 clone must be replaced at 5,000 rounds or so.
If you are the users of Norinco 1911A1 or sig clone, please tell me the truth about their natural life.thanks!

True is that Norinco is good pistol for the first time owner.
However You get what You pay for.
Maybe the steel on those pistols is forged, but I've seen the slide stops cutting into the slide, just during the process of the regular use.
I would say, save some more money and go with RIA instead.

Norincos have some of the best steel going in their slides and frames, that has long been established. I can't comment on the barrel issue as my NP-29 only has ~2000 rounds through it from my hand (with an unknown amount from the previous 2 owners). At this point it looks brand new and functions 100%.

i lost track awhile ago, but my norc 1911a1 sporter has seen at least 6k or more. most of it (5500) has been jacketed and the last bit lead. now that i am casting though i will be switch between the two, but will like shoot more lead then jacketed.

either way, i haven't noticed any issues.

i think a rental range could tell you best, they shoot 1000's of rounds. I think one wore out an early np-22 (before they were beefed up). I think the 1911 would last a long time

I put over 7,000 rounds of just under full power .45ACP through my first Norinco 1911 during the time I owned it. (My first handgun from several years ago)

It was still chugging strong and would likely have had no problem going through far more then double or triple that number.

If you want to get to know a firearm inside out and lean about how it ticks and how you can improve it, without worrying about messing up a high $$$ gun, Norincos are a great way to do it.

norinco

I have a run down norinco commander, the last owner was a comercial shooting range in edmonton, when they sell it to me the range owner said its for parts only, that thing have to many round's thru (was in that range for 4 year's) so far I have maybe more then 8 thousand's round's thru, all lead in 3 year's my self, :D I guess they last:ar15:

I'm over 5,000 rounds on my 1911 Compact, it is showing zero wear and accuracy is still better than I can hold. The frame is forged tool steel, Chinese hard chrome processes produce some of the best industrial hard chrome available anywhere. I wouldn't be surprised to see barrel life in the 30,000+ rounds range, and frame life higher by a factor of at least six. This assumes normal maintenance, and these numbers would be conservative guesses. Jerry Barnhardt had a frame and slide (made of lower grade steel) that went 500,000 rounds and was still in use - I can't see a Norc going less. There are 2 major types of shooters who buy Norcs, the first are new guys who don't want to spend a fortune on a gun they might not like, the second are guys who buy the Norc with the intention of shooting the backside off it, tweak it just enough to suit themselves and then go to it.

My two bone stock 1911A1 Government Model Norkys have ~13k and 15k on them. Regular range pistols - not babied or abused. Accuracy and reliability have been top notch (with no deterioration with the high rounds) and the finish has held up very very well as well.

They have been such an exceptional value and have held up so well, that I'm bored of shooting them now and figure that I should give them a Spa day soon just to re-kindle interest in the platform :p
