Sure a Civic will get you around, but a Ferrari is certainly much more 'ultimate.' How many kids have posters of Civics on their walls?

Prosper, I hate to do this, but DO A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET.

You've made a tonne of sense on this thread, and gone and ruined it with an unresearched comment.... In the corner for you :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Civics are the craze, well, nearly anything japscrap right now... (Oh, oh what did I start...:popCorn::popCorn::popCorn::popCorn::popCorn::popCorn::popCorn:)

Dogleg;

Lots of hunters practice, and lots of hunters are newer hunters who didn't grow up shooting. So IMHO I'd have to say that cost of practice and maybe even 'recoil for practice' should be allowed as a factor. Lets say you're a newer shooter and you're going to make it to the range 8 times in a year to practice. THat's not a lot, not someone die hard or anything. During those 8 times if you can only shoot 20 times before you get sore or start flinching, vs say 40 times with a different gun, that's a factor. You're shooting 160 rounds practice vs 320. And over 320 rounds, cost might well be a factor for a younger shooter.

I'd call it a 'side' point at best, but it's worth thinking about.

I don't think that we are likely to agree on this one, but my recommendation assumes that the user has the necessary skill and experience to handle the .375. If he doesn't then he can't handle the Ultimate do-it-all caliber. Thats his short-coming, not the caliber's. Nothing is any good if you can't shoot it.
The average hunter who isn't a gun-nut won't shoot 320 annual rounds through his hunting rifle in the wettest dream that he ever had. It's all academic really, as hunters who are interestedf in hunting all the North American game are about the least likely to have or want only one rifle.

OK ask yourself this question... on a fly in only trip the airline looses the bagage with your ammo in it. what cartridge is most like to be availabe in the area that you are hunting on the list only 3 will positively be available and should be one of your picks starting with the 303 BR, then the "06, then the 6.5.

the cartridge is only the ultimate one if its used in the firearm its designed for...no ammo no hunt....

I hate that argument. My ammo is packed with my other gear such as tags, guns, calls, clothes, etc. A lost bag would spell the end of my trip regardless of which cartridge my gun takes. Plus, I couldn't just replace my carefully constructed handloads with some random factory ammo and still be confident in the capabilities of my rifle at all distances. Again, this would severly hamper my performance if not end the hunt altogether

Plus, I'd also take issue with your list of cartridges that will be available. 303 is not as common as it used to be, and 6.5x55 is comparatively rare. But, where you can find 30-06, you can usually also find 270, 308, 30-30, 7mm mag, 300 mag
