Got my hands on a completely untouched NS522 last year. No trigger jobs, no bedding work, nuttin'. Even came with the original washers for 'pillars'! I like the way it shoots as is, even if the action is a bit clunky. Nice solid rifle with outstanding accuracy - pretty close to my heavy barrel CZ457 in fact.

The problem started on a recent Scorpio 13" thread, where 'Dark Alley Dan' reported ordering an original NS 522 walnut stock through Optics Planet in the US for his Scorpio. The wheels started turning, and now my NS522 isn't the most fugly thing on the range. Actually looks pretty darned good. Not the cheapest way to find a replacement stock, but if any Canadian importers find some NS522 actions and put them in this stock, they'd probably sell for a decent price. The rifle really is a gem.

The inletting is very clean and spot on for the NS action and trigger guard. Could maybe use pillars though....

They are a very underrated rifle. I've used mine for PRS matches, and done pretty good using Scorpio 10 round mags with +2 baseplates I made. The original stock is pretty ugly, so I made my own replacement instead of spending a bunch of money. Your rifle looks great in it though.

Kristian - I've seen pics of the stock you made for your NS522, it's an impressive piece of craftsmanship and looks great too. I definitely don't have that level of ability or patience.

Yes, unfortunately once you figure in exchange rate and import duties it was ridiculously expensive (about $248 or so). But, to buy a decent classic 22 or a more modern equivalent with a nice wood stock it's also not cheap.

To be honest, I think the rifle is well worth it. Like most of us, I've wasted more $$ than that on worse things!

Thanks for the kind words. They're definitely a nice enough barreled action that they deserve something better than the Home Depot 2x4 stock they came with. And I did think about buying one out of the USA like you did at one point. I hummed and hawed about building my own for several years, before I decided that I had nothing to lose except time if it didn't work out.
