Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. I see in it's simplicity of form and function a beauty that surpasses others. The fact that it will go bang every time without fail is another beauty it shares with few other firearms...
Close on ballistics, however , ugly!? Naw, sweet rifle actually and one of my sons girlfriends actually called the SKS ###y!!

On the side note: indeed, ALL of my acquaintances who own SKS (four of them) - they own only SKS and nothing else. Why? They love it so much? None of them. The truth is: they just cannot afford more pricey gun, yet they want to own something which somewhat shoots. What can I tell about that group? In speaking with them, they would be happy to switch their SKS and old Toyota Corolla's for something better or live in a better place. They just don't have other options for now. Low IQ. None of them would solve integral equation, explain Newton's third rule of movement, or recall when civil war has occurred. Feeling less advantaged than others, they need to harness the fear, they need to control the power to feel more advantaged. That power can change lives, change history, the power of God. All for $200.
