Yeah, that'll work. The .300 is such an undisputedly solid choice for practically everything, practically everywhere that your turn at the campfire caliber debate will be very short. It's usually limited to the time it takes for someone to say "yeah, that'll work". :)

Not to derail but ... Good read. Maybe a 200 Swift A Frame for the big bears, bison.
I knew Boddignton would come around to the 300 Win Mag.

.300 Win's the #1 rifle that shows up here with clients, and for good reason. Realistically I'd be happy with .30-06, 7mm Mag, .300 Win, .338 Win for the gig. The big .300s and .338 are exceptional but come with a weight penalty generally, same for my beloved .375. I'm opting for 7 Mag as it's well adapted to fast 120s to 140s, my preference in the mountains, and puts on a decent act of overachieving little sibling to the .300s at 175grs for bison (and their related giant goats and bears).

.303British will do well enough so I'll take my (not sportered) No.4 Mk.2. I got my first deer with it so it would most fitting to carry on collecting with it.

Voted the 9.3x cos its Close to the Whelen....

You've never even see half of these creatures, you Whelen-loving Bogan!

####ty rifle to lug around the sheep and goat mountains.

I am trying to simply things at the moment. Win model 70 30-06 will be kept. Also keeping my Browning Citori. A good .22
For the rest of it if it doesn't fit in my jeep it will be going in the next 15 months. Then headed west.
On second thought I may keep the Win 70 375 H&H.
Rifle wise the 30-06 can do all I need it to.
