The One That Got Away

Had a Marlin lever 357 mag. Bought it because I had a few cases of +p 38 special ammo. Shot up the ammo and sold the gun. Since then I've seen lots of deals on the old +p stuff. Worst part was it was lots of fun using up the old ammo!

Shoulda kept it.

Best reason to buy a firearm :) - b/c you have some ammo lying around, and nothing to shoot it with!.....:p

Browning Grade V 20,28, and .410

No question these three. I could not justify $4000+ in unfired guns. Did make a nice profit selling them though;);):D

I'll never sell one of my guns (unless a firearm possession limit is imposed)! If I really need the money, I'll just get a third job, lol. :)

Is it okay to go twice???

When in University around 1980, Jack's gun rack had a beautiful Ruger #1 in 6mm that reddish orange wood danced in swirls in the sunlight. During my summer job, I finally saved up enough money and went in to buy it. Jack said before you spend your money, you should see what I found. He went in the back and pulled out a brand new, NIB, unfired Winchester 52D 22 LR target rifle. Jack explained that my money would be better spent on the collectible 52D..

I still have the 52D and every time I pick it up, my mind wonders to the orange burl of that 6mm #1......

If anyone out there has THAT particular gun, I WANT IT BACK!

My biggest regret was a Ruger #1 30-06

Shot so well and I used it more than any other rifle, then one day a buddy comes and offers me too much money for it... and he wont sell it back.

I've only sold 1. It was a Ruger m77 with the tang safety. Chambered in 7 rem mag. Kicked really hard with that hard red rubber butt pad. I couldn't make it shoot anything respectable at all. Like 6" groups. In my other rifles I was shooting much better [moa or better] so I sold the Ruger. It pained me during the transaction to see it go, but with the money I bought a Tikka. Definately a trade up. I've not been unhappy since, and have not regretted letting that POS go.

Sold a Ruger Deerfield Carbine in .44 mag because it couldnt hit a barn from the inside. Tried all kinds of loads in it and thought that I had found one that worked pretty good 2.5-3 MOA which was fine espeically for a close range deer gun. Was sitting in the treestand and a small buck came out about 40 yards away and stood broadside to me. I put the crosshairs just behind the shoulder and let er rip. I saw dirt fly from below him, and he ran off. Completely missed him.

Well that was the end of it for me. I sold it for a good price and kept the scope. I bought a 700 CDL in 7mm-08 with the money from it, which was a pretty fair trade in my books. Put the same scope on it. Same problem. Put a new scope on it, and shot the old scope. I regret selling it because it was a nice little gun, and it wasn't the problem. But at the same time I wouldn't trade the 700 for anything. I will clover leaf no problem, plenty of power for anything I hunt at any sane range, just plain great.

Weatherby Mark V

I borrowed it from my brother while moose hunting, it was his back up gun and I left my Rem 700 back at camp(was trying to change my luck), I ended up shooting my first moose with it that day, turned out the moose was 577yrds, it was crazy of me to take a shot at that distance with the 30-06 but I was hungry for my first Kill.
A year later my brother told me he was going to sell the gun and offered it to me, I turned it down as I already had 2 rifles for moose. Now every year when I think of it I regret that decision purely for sentimental reasons:(

It might seem silly to some but I regret selling a single shot 12ga to a fellow CGNer. It wasn't anything fancy just a Rem 812, but I really, really liked it. I sold it to finance a wingmmaster I found a good deal on. I should have kept it and bought the 870. I miss that gun.
