I've recently acquired a rifle so I am looking for a rifle range.

Any CGNers members of the "Oshawa Skeet and Gun Club"? What do you think of the rifle range(s) there? Would you be willing to invite me as a quest so that I get a chance to try the range out for myself?

Thanks in advance,

I am a member down the road at The Marksmen Club, but I am going to join the Oshawa Club aswell to shoot rifle. The rifle range is very nice, 300 yards, new building with washrooms, new covered shooting booths, it is nice.

Are you talking about the Oshawa Club or the Marksment Club? sorry I'm having a dense brain day

Steve, is talking about the Oshawa club having the nice rifle range etc. The Marksment Club is pistol only at this time.

300m is the best you are going to do in this area! The Marksman is in the final stages of completeing a 100 yard range, if that is all you are looking for, come and check it out.

Just drop by on a Wed, Sat, or Sun and someone will be at the club house, and they can give you a tour..

(I used to be a member). The rifle range is pretty standard, 50,100,200, and 300.

some quirky range rule about FMJ's, "Rapid fire" and mag limits though (Old guys club type..)

The Oshawa gun club is great. Open 7 days a week to memebers.

A few things to keep in mind:

1. no FMJ ammo allowed (forgert about shooting cheap surpluss ammo)

2. non-restricted only (leave your AR15 at home)

3. slow fire only (1 round every 2-3 seconds)

The Oshawa Skeet and Rifle now does now allow Restricted rifles ie. AR's, I doubt you will ever see a pistol range there. When it comes to the FMJ rule, they are tight about surplus ammo but match ammo is no problem. It is quite a nice range.

Yeah.. Those 20 foot thick berms can't handle the steel jackets.. God forbid it should go another 6-8 inches deeper in the sand.. Most hunting rounds are pretty much FMJ anyways. Never made sense to me when I was there.

Wow that sounds fun:rolleyes:

Everyone... thanks for all your replies.

Based on some of the "experience" of people who posted, I think I'll look at another club as no FMJ and slow fire rules, whether enforced or not seem, a bit strange to me.

Thanks again,
