use grease not oil on the m1 and it should run allot better.

It's greased...I think is was the clip...was a b*tich to get the last round in...had a whole bag of them to bring, but it was the one thing that got left behind. Was gonna try bending the one I had, but it was getting dark.

Looks like you had a great day! I was telling the kids this morning that we should get a bunch of pumpkins and see who can blow em up first. Oh and no matter how many people ask , keep that spot to yerself.

This is awesome!

My girl is 5 and comes shooting with me too

Good times, great memories...... I love your last picture, you can see the pride you have for her and how she looks up to you too

Way to go Dad!!!

MAN! If I ever get a shot like that of me and my kids, it's going on T-shirts, coffee cups, and any darn thing I can think of.
You should make that your avatar.
That really is a great pic.

Almost all of my clips are really tight on that 8th round, too. It should only affect stripping the first round, after that the rifle should run fine. How was it failing to feed? What ammo were you running? Has this rifle given you trouble with this before?

That is a great day in a beautiful location. Good job on teaching the next generation of shooters.

Nice.

Just, plain NICE.

Glad you had a good time.

How's the SMLE running?

Flawless...by far the best shooter of the day. No serious target shooting...just a fun plinking day, but it was putting soda cans in the air at approximately 75-100 yds with no wasted rounds.

Deposited the brass in a neat little pile about 3 feet to the right and slightly forward of me. The M1 put 'em in another neat pile about 8 ft behind, and to the right of me. The SKS.....well....it put them EVERYWHERE, haha.

Next time out I'm gonna try a "mad minute"....except it'll be the 10 round version...cause it's, how do you say...EXPENSIVE !

Need to post a picture of the brass...all the PPU .303 I was shooting came out flared at the neck. Is that normal....or a sign of something wrong ?

Gotta go clean some rifles...have a great day !

Hi,

First time out with this one. It's a JRA restore. Only put 16 rounds through it cause it was getting annoying. The ammo was the Federal "M1 specific" kind. It would FTF about 3-4 times per clip. Would fire, cycle, eject but then just a dry fire. I'd have to cycle it again manually to feed the next round.

Thanks for the positive feedback !

Here's a pic of the PPU .303 brass....after a second look, maybe there's no issue. Maybe just the carbon on the end made it look deformed to me yesterday.

See anything alarming ?

Is the picture too crappy ?

Oh, that brass looks just fine to me. I would certainly use it.

Now that they are fire-formed to that rifle, time to cast some wheelweight slugs, get a can of Red Dot and start shooting 538 rounds to the pound (13 grains): dime a shot....... and so little recoil that your Helper can try it herself without getting hurt. Accurate enough to smack a 1-litre plastic pop bottle out to 200, too.

The Brass is HALF the cost of your ammunition. Might as well use it until it drops. With the Harris Load (13 grains of Red Dot) it will last 20 to 30 firings if you do your part.

Have fun!
