Getting away from optimum calibers and velocity vs weight arguments.

What rifle did YOU actually hunt with this year for Moose or Elk? And what load?

Mine was my Rem 700 .338WM, VXIII 2.5-8, with 225gr TSX...

rem 30-06, 180gr, remington core lokt, topped with a VX-2.

cheap bullets, boring cartridge, 1 shot, 1 big bull moose on the ground.

Moose, Elk, Bear........

LH SS Ruger M77MII in 30-06 w/ VXII 3-9 LRD. Shot 180 Winchester factory elcheapos... THE definition of a boring hunting rifle and I like it alot.

No moose draw. Didn't get the elk. Took a black bear though.

Hope to chase them with a 375Ruger next year....

Rem 700 300 ultra mag laminated thumbhole stainless w/2.5-16x50mm 6500 elite & Browning a-bolt 300 wsm stainless stalker w/ 4-12 x40mm 3200 elite

I switched it up depending on my mood, but it was either a ruger 77 Mk II stainless in 338 win mag wearing a baush and lomb 3200 3-9x40 with handloaded 225 gr accubonds

the other was another ruger stainless, but in 280 rem with 140 gr fail safes sighted with a leupold VX-2 3-9x40.

Unfortunately, i have no report on performance.

Sako Finnlight 300wsm topped with a VX-III 3.5-10 slinging 165gr TSX

Similar to Ronne, except with 180 Accubonds.

Model 75 Finnlight, McMillan "Sako 75" stock, glass-bedded action & free-floated barrel.

No success on the big boys, but 3 deer this year fell hard.

:)

For the last few years my hunting rifle rifle - A Remington 700 long action, Remington laminated stock, trigger worked to 2 pounds, Kwik-Klip conversion, 7mm - 08 24 inch Gaillard barrel, Leupold dual dovetail mounts and a 3.5 x 10 Boone & Crockett. I have used 139 and 154 Hornady bullets. Both work well.

I use a browning A-Bolt stainless stalker in 300 win mag, zeiss conquest 3-9x40, and 165 hornady interbonds, 180 tsx or winchester elite XP3 180 grain (changed it up, all shoot great in my rifle). Never got a spiker, saw lots of mature bulls but didnt have a draw.

Remington model 700 lss .338 ultra mangle-'em with 275 grain swift a frames at just over 2900 fps. Scope is a Ziess - of course - 3.5-10X44. Never had to shoot a moose or elk twice with it. Shot a 52" bull moose last year that is now hanging on the wall of my living room with it.

Remington 700 "Classic" chambered in 8x57 Mauser. Load was 200 Accubond over 48.5 grains of Vihtavuori N150, fired by a WLR primer in a Dominion case. The two moose and one Black Bear I have taken with this rifle have been DRT! Regards, Eagleye.

You didn't mention grizzly... :D

I shot a 1000 + lbs interior grizzly with my Rem 700 LSS in 375 RUM with 300gr Partitions @ 2775fps my son shot a grizzly with my Rem 700 LSS 300 RUM with 200gr A-Frames @ 3200fps.

Let the moose go don't need the meat but had a couple lined up with my Marlin 1895GS with 350gr Swift A-Frames @ 2000fps let them walk away though.

Mule Deer one small 2 point with my Marlin 1895GS with the 350gr A-Frames and my biggest antlered Mule deer with a T/C Contender carbine chambered in the wildcat 308 Bellm 150gr Rem Core Lok's @ 2620fps.

Rem700 chambered in 8mmRemMag with 200gr Swift A-Frames at around 3200fps. If I get a Griz draw I up it to 220gr A-Frames. Mur
