The perfect moose/elk rifle, or not...

Homesteader and I seem to be taking very similar approaches. My choice is a Remington 700 BDL with a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5-5x20 using a handload of a 250 grain Hornady, 59.5 grains of Reloder-15 and WLR primers.

Remington 700 SPS 30-06, 180gr. rem. a-frame topped with bushnell elite 4200 1.5 to 6 x 36mm. Marlin 1895 45-70 gvt. 405gr. rem topped with bushnell banner dusk & dawn 1.5 to 4.5x32mm with leopold Q.R. rings for iron sight use if necessary. I hunt two areas, one treestand short distance with my 45-70 and the other is a two to three hundred yard shot with the 30-06. P.S. That's moose hunt.

Husqvarna 640 M98 in 9.3x62 topped with a Weaver K4 shooting 250 gr Accubonds. Worked just fine on a pretty big bull moose.

I almost feel undergunned now . . . Rem700P in .308 with nikon buckmaster pushing 168grain TSX at 2700fps.

However, good enough to put one to sleep where he was walking.

TC Encore in 300 win mag 26" barrel with a nikon 4-12x50 for anything bigger than a coyote anything small er gets the 28" prohunter 22-250 barrel with a BSA 6-24x44 scope. I love my Custom TC.

Did you recover that bullet? I have some of the 168's, but haven't loaded them yet. Things to do this summer...:)
