The "perfect" woman's rifle

My recommendation would just be to not cheap out. I bought a Mossberg 100 ATR in .308 for my daughter, youth size with the reduced LOP. Developed some good low-recoil loads, and it's nice and light, easy for her to carry. That's the good news. The bad news is it's a piece of crap; massively heavy trigger, won't feed properly no matter how much I fool with the follower, etc.

Too bad, 'cause she likes to shoot it and it's a nice size, but now I'm torn between buying Timney trigger and aftermarket magazine kit, or just saving myself a ton of time and getting a newer compact rifle...

No matter how much you try to polish a turd in the end it is still a turd.

"Shrink It and Pink It" is a condescending approach that turns more women away from hunting than it attracts. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar, and you'll catch more women hunters if you actually give a #### about making the sport more accessible to them. Pink camo ain't that.

My wife and daughter disagree with you.

My wife was not a shooter so I let her go through my collection, the guns she gravitated to were the slim Euro types, ie Brno, Mannlicher, Husqvarna. So I bought her a slim Husqvarna M46 6.5x55. She killed an Elk with my Brno 21H.

Muzzle blast is a problem.

SKS (short LOP and little recoil) has been a hit with every woman I've had shoot one.

One of my daughters doesn't care as long as it is pink.

Based on my experience with female shooters; a slim, low recoil and low muzzle blast, available in pink gun is just about right.
