The PING sound of the M14 Flash Suppressor - Sweetness!

Just a last question from a Newbie.
The rifle does not have a free floating barrel as most expensive hunting rifles have. So, How can they get Barrel Harmonics working in this thing. I think I lost the logic of the PING thing. Unless the whole rifle vibrates when tuned, the PING thing might be just an ear Mirage
Try any 30:06 without ear muffs and your ears will ring the same way and longer

Come back from town with another gun and listen to my wife without earmuffs, that too will make your ears ring.

Darned if I know... I'm an iron sight shooters and all the matches I shot at were all done with iron sights, (and then I heard the multiple PING sounds). Any shooters with scoped M14 rifles here care to chime in after "racking" your scoped M14? Get back to us here!
