... He just leaves a sticker on the door, then takes my package back to the post office and makes it "hang out" with cosmetics from the Shopping Channel, and double order's of Vincents Sham-Wow.... Thank goodness I had a rescue ops plan already in place... phew!

Now, for the reveal...:D

The FS2000 has landed... Pictures do not do the carbine justice. It looks much better in person than in photos. It's light, balances very well, and the construction/design are A1. What a funky system for expended case management...me likes... It doesn't seem bulky at all in the hands, and shoulders very well. I choose the standard version to help defer the cost of another "black gun optic". The view through the factory glass is good, and who knows, I may not change it. Nonetheless, there exists a nice sized factory rail beneath the optics cover, so adding something different shouldn't be an issue.

The barrel has been stretched into "non-restricted" status by the wonderful wizard at Herron Arms (shameless plug), and it looks amazing. Ian's work is always outstanding, and I've recommended him to everyone who want top notch custom work done.

The cleaning kit that is supplied with the gun looks like a high-end AR kit... some special little tools for something - haven't read the manual yet, but sure, why not... Also had these cool little bear cards in the box (next shameless plug) from Dan at Kodiak Outpost. Another wonderful person and company to deal with!

I'll post a range report once I get a chance to put some rounds down the barrel... if anyone's interested...

Now I have to read a stupid manual, and get the Tavor's ready for their new roommate in the safe - Kinda an Israeli / Belgian three-way... eeeks...;)

So that's what's under all that plastic. Is it a Picatinny rail or something FN-ish?

It's a compressed Picatinny Rail... Not as long as long as the tactical version, nor is it made of aluminum. From what I've read on other forums - yes I'm cheating on CGN... is that the rail, although polymer is robust enough to support other optics. In fact, it's lower than the aluminum railed version, which I like very much... "Praise the Lowered!"

If I change out the optics, I don't think there's enough room on the rail for back up sights, but I really don't have an issue with that... I don't see myself being Halo dropped into anywhere hot and sandy soon...

The factory glass is a nice little 1.6 power, with a black post reticule. Not too bad for a little fella...

Winz Remember to post videos of your IAs and RAs working that poopshoot cover

IA's?? What are they?? Never done one before...
Three things and one word....

1 - Adjustable shoulder breaking recoil enhancing quick switch adverse condition gas system.
2 - Smoking hot Federal Bonded Partition ammunition with ultra slippery Clark Grizwald lubricated nickel plated casings.
3 - A non-direct impingement operation system that forgoes, for lack of a better analogy "pooping where one eats". :D

Word = Transition ;)

what is this ?

That is the adjustable gas switch... in the upright position, it is in Regular mode... turn switch 45 degrees clockwise, and it's in Adverse Conditions mode... So, if the gun isn't cycling (filthy, fouled, bad or underpowered ammo), Adverse Mode will direct more gas to the piston to operate the action with an overwhelming amount of brute force and ignorance... Sweet....!

Well I had a bit of time to tinker with the fs2000 and was surprised at how tight and non drop fee the mags are when inserted into the carbine. The flexible gaskets do an incredible job at holding things in there. Other forums had suggested their removal (pliers, X-acto knives and my favorite, the dremel). Opting not to mangle the foxtrot uniform Charlie kilo out of a new gun, I applied a small dot of Superlube with ptfe to each gasket. An incredible improvement albeit still not drop free. It's completely workable, especially with longer mags (20 rounders or more - pinned of course). Ranger Pulls are also a plus. One word of caution though... If you put in a LAR15 mag without a ranger floorplate, or a coupler with another mag attached, you'll have a bugger of a time getting it out. It's up there deep like a wedgied nerds underwear after wearing his star trek uniform to school.

On a less visually upsetting note, side by side with a tavor, the tavor is taller. From top of sight to bottom of grip by about an inch.

More to come after range day.

Cheers

Mike
