Pythons are great guns. Mine is a 30 year old 6 inch blued and she is a shooter. Strangely enough I ended up getting a Python because of all the craze for Smith & Wesson's 44 Magnum Model 29. During the "Dirty Harry" movie era the Model 29 was going for nearly $600 a copy, I got my "Snake", and I'm damn glad I did get one, for under $400.
Until the AMC series "The Living Dead" the 4 inch barreled guns were going for $600 to $800 depending on shape and finish, while the 6 inch tubed were running $1000 to $1200. After that show became a hit the prices skyrocketed, /with the 4 inch barreled guns hitting $2000 and the long barreled ones going for $2500 or more. I'll be glad when the show ends and prices become sane again. I love my python but it is not a $2000 gun.
