I just came from a friends party, he had two of these things set up in the middle of a large table, seating sixteen. you have the flat cooking surface on top, and eight little scoops under the grilling surface to also cook in.
We each cooked our own grub!
He had pre-cut the meat, and veggies into small pieces, and, with sixteen comparative strangers, the grills gave us something to talk about to break the ice.
The food, sliced carrots, broccoli, asparagus , a whole host of vegies, with an assortment of wild game from the past season, (Trout, venison, bear, moose caribou, goose, and even some chicken) cut in small pieces, and in various marinades, or as is, served in bowls. Each person could pick what they wanted to try.
The result was spectacular, and each person got their meat and veggies cooked exactly the way they wanted it, provided they paid attention :D.

Welcome to the '70s. Raclette and fondue are both making a resurgence. They are great party events as everyone can participate, and eat what they choose rather than what you prepare for them.
