THE RARE 338 marlin

Simple, Marlin fell on hard times, got bought by the bean counters of Freedom group. A most useful caliber, it just got the bad timing award of the decade. Can think of a few useful calibers that did not succeed for one reason or another, the whole WSSM family, 308 Norma mag, 8 mm Rem mag.......

2 reasons I can think of.............it didn't have a belt on it...........and or..........Gatehouse did not hail it as the new king.............

There was only really one loading a 200 gr flex tip. No brass. No ammo. Hard to sell new product line when your quality control was so bad

I thought about getting one for awhile. Would make a decent bear moose gun for in the thickets

I am mostly a traditional 30-06/30-30/35 Rem/308 type of guy, but this was actually one new caliber I found semi-interesting before the whole Remlin fiasco. If Remlin would get their #&#^ together and get Marlin and these new calibers up and running properly with decent quality rifles and with ammo and brass, I would be willing to to take another look at adding one to my stable. I like the 338MX specs and in a stainless/laminate rifle could be a still nice but practical 'new-school' levergun. I would love to hunt with one, here on the wet, west coast.
