The reloading bench size and thickness?

I wonder how well this would work? $137 at Rona right now.

I knocked my bench together out of 2x4s and plywood.

Hmmm.....doesn't seem to be sturdy enough.....could be wrong. If it is made of pine, I wouldn't recommend it.

I was at Rona the other day and looked at that bench. Pretty flimsy. Maybe if you could bolt it to the wall other wise it would rock and roll to much to use it to reload. My reloading bench is 2' x 8' and it is to small now for my setup. The other thing about that bench is it is to short for me to stand at.

Just my opinion!

I know this is overkill, but I just wanted to show you my bench in case it gives you any ideas. Everything is made from 2x6's except the 3/4" sheet of maple plywood on top.

Don't concern yourselves with static as far as setting of powder. I did quite the experiment one dry winter day and I couldn't get it to go off. I went as far as to pull an ignition wire off my truck and hit the powder covered metal test plate with a few zaps (quite a few actually) before I could get it to go off. I couldn't make it go off with just static. I didn't try primers, and a scale in the near field could definitely be thrown off by static.

30 year old craftsman work bench, warped wood top, RCBS Press lag mounted to 3 pieces of nailed together 18 inch long 2"x12" I found in the garage, and C-clamped to the workbench. I'm thinking of putting out a commercial version of my set-up, look for it all the finest garage sales. The press portion weighs about 20 lbs, and I'll be surprised if running the biggest dryest cases possible would make it flex in the slightest.

ETA it's a definite upgrade from my previous press board top desk, which despite all the warnings, sized and loaded at least 2-300 .300 Winchester magnum rounds, over 500 each of 22-250 and 44 magnum, and about 3000 rounds of 45 acp, without ever falling apart or even cracking. I even used it as my main work bench during home renos, and the only time it took any damage was when I hurt my hand, and smashed a couple holes in it with a hammer.

I used a doubled layer of 3/4 inch plywood, glued and screwed, with the rear of the bench screwed into a 2x6x8foot board tapcon'd to the concrete wall. The front of the bench sits on an arch made from 2x6 with a 4x4 post at the ends.

Just so you apartment dwellers know it can be done, I did this in a day on my balcony with a borrowed Miter Saw :)

Got a lot of noise complaints but the Landlord told em that you really can't do anything about it since it was around 1pm on a Sunday :D

Then again, the landlord did end up just giving me his old Lee Enfield so..

What was the noise complaints from? The tumbler?

I've got a little apartment sized one rigged up in my storage room, 3' x 3' square, of 3/4" plywood, doubled over glued and screwed so it's really 1 1/2" thick, then cut out a quarter circle off one corner to give me a place to sit at. sturdy as hell, working decent considering cramped quarters.

Just buying a new house with an almost finished garage, SOOO excited to build my next reloading bench right into the studs. not to mention quadruple the size. Making the benches is almost as good of a hobby as shooting is itself...

probably the skill saw going non stop untill completion.

Yup. It was from the Miter Saw. I do live in a building that is occupied by people mostly over 70, so it gave them something to talk about for the day :)

Nobody was upset, it was just a building full of people wondering what was going on

Should have distributed a flyer, telling them not to put their hearing aids in that day
