The Remington 700 BDL

I have a 700 ask that i tried to sell on the boards here... nobody was serious about buying it, you know how it goes.... anyhow, came to my senses and decided to save it for a future .22 creeedmore build. Whittled my collection down to 3 rem 700s.... I'd love to find a minty 70s era 300wm sporter. That would be pretty sweet way to round out the collection.

about 6-7 months ago I purchased an older 700 bdl off the E&E in almost new condition for my Dad. Classic blued/walnut .308, think it's from about 1978-79. You'd swear this thing was never fired.

He always wanted one in .308 so I waited & waited until the right one came along. He had no idea until the postman showed up with the box. I got to see it finally a couple weeks ago. Such a classic rifle, a real beauty.

They do make solid platforms for builds. But then there is the risk that after spending a thousand dollars chasing the dream, the gun doesn’t shoot as well as it did originally. Been there. Done that.

More Remington pleasure.
A Model 700 BDL in 6mm Rem I bought yesterday. Shoots factory 100 gr Corelokt ammo into a 0.25”.

The 700 is still my favorite, despite the fact that I have and shoot several others. I lean to the
"Classic" stock design, rather than the BDL, but either works. At present, I have well over a dozen
700s, some of which are custom rifles, with aftermarket barrels, triggers, etc. My 8mm Rem Mag sits
in a aluminum bedded aftermarket stock as well. I never had a 700 that could not be made to shoot
very well. I have had "fussy" ones, that showed a distinct preference for one bullet type, but even
those would shoot sub-moa with that specific projectile. Since production numbers were high, there
are plenty of them around, some at bargain prices. Dave.

I have a '75 version that has lots of war wounds and I put up with the hard but plate until 2010 when I put a limb-saver on it. What a treat. I don't know why anyone would remove the iron sights though as they kind of identified it as a BDL along with the white laminations on the stock furniture according to Remington. Of course a front sight sticking in a gun case is a pain in the butt.

I hav3 BDL"s. The first rifle I bought after moving to Canada was a 30-06, which I still have.
Also a 6mmRem and a 308 HB>
All are fine guns from the 1980s and shoot well.

I have a 700 CDL, manufactured in the "supposedly" dark years of Remington manufacture. It is
chambered 270 Winchester.
It is all one could wish for: good fit and finish, smooth operation, and deadly accurate.
3 - 140 Accubonds will often all touch at 100M, and I have shot groups as small as 3" at 500M
