Other than the Geissle rail both rifle are set up the same, maybe they took some paint off when they installed the new rail?

^ What he said...

Hogue Overmold grip.

The gun in the picture isn't the actual rifle that fired the shot, it the same as the rifle that was used. Obviously some HK mock up.

For someone, like me, who is into hunting guns, but not educated on tactical arms, give a rundown of the gun and accessories in the OP`s photo....I.e. brand, model, caliber, etc.......thanks:)

This thread is weird.

Is there some kind of end-cap on the suppressor in the OP's picture?

It appears to be a Butler Creek lens cap. On the forum from which the image was pulled there was a great deal of debate and whinging about this.

FWIW the suppressor is an AAC. It is either an M4-1000 or early M4-2000 with the first gen 18 tooth mount.

Post 12 hit pretty much everything. Everything else Suputin has said.

But.... basically, It's an H&K HK416 piston actuated 5.56 assault rifle.

Civilian version is called MR556

It's just there to keep the dust out of the rifle, shoot through it if necessary

So this rifle is going to have some historical value. Is it going to be on display? Is there a story behind it now other than it was used to clean up OBL?

Waiting for Aimpoint fan come out and reminds us they never turn their sights off and how Eotechs are so unreliable...

If someone else was paying for my optics (and replacing them when they don't work) I would run eotechs. But on my personal rifles I run aimpoints because I've had 3 eo's #### the bed and can't afford to keep having them fixed or replaced.

Back on topic that's some good marketing for HK :)

Two things.

1). That rifle didn't kill Ibn Laden. A US Navy SEAL did. Credit where credit is due.

2). That rifle in that configuration did not exist, nor was deployed in same at the time Neptune Spear went down.
