Our robins don't usally leave at all anymore. Not like it was when I was a kid. But it's usually pretty balmy in these parts of B.C. where I'm at anyway... Your robins are pretty darn brave, though.
Actually, they likely never left.
In the last couple of years before I retired, we were finding robins at the pile where we dumped the grave dirt, looking for worms, all winter long.
Too early for them here. We get the Varied Thrush ahead of the Robins by a few weeks. I have to do a double take in the early spring and check to see if it's a Thrush or Robin, they look so much alike at first glance. Any way, even the Thrush's won't be here for a while yet. Saw some beauty Pine Gross Beaks at the feeders today. 5 males and 4 females. The males were exceptionally bright.
I saw a pair of robins Saturday as well . I was out crow hunting when they flew past . Pretty darn strange !! Usually I expect to see them around the first of April .
