I was able to purchase this book at a gun show today but I am trying to figure out if I got a deal or if I overpayed.

Standard 1984 hardcover printing with the dust jacket in fair condirion. Amazon has a copy for sale for 700$ and I am assuming that's a missprint.

I ended up paying 75$ for it and for the content I am happy. I just was wondering if that was a bit steep.

It's out of print isn't it??

I would think ANY good full reference book on any given firearm is a good deal if under $100! (BBOTW, Hitlers Garands, Ross Rifle Story etc...)

Now, if only I could find a copy of that book at a gunshow....

There is a guy in Toronto who got the rights and made a print run a few years ago, got one directly from him, unfortunately I have lost his email address. I don't remember how much I paid but it was WAY less than $700.

Buffdog sent for 3 copies, got them: 1 for him, 1 for me, 1 for a Very Special Navigator in California. Three at once brings the price a bit under the C-stage, keeps life worth living.

Truly EXCELLENT reference book!!!!! Not complete, of course, as things crawl out of the woodwork which 3 dedicated researchers didn't run across, but they show up on milsurps dot com...... and here (thinking of friend kjohn)....... simply BECAUSE they aren't in the book.

Life does get interesting.

after taking a look through some of the pages and even seeing a write up on the Huot I was very happy with my purchase. Now I just need a Ross that has a barrel that isn't corroded or have a butchered stock.

and here (thinking of friend kjohn)

:D kjohn does have some weird stuff! But, buying all these goodies has made me look old. Just look at my avatar - and I am only 39 in that picture!!:p

Ross Rifle Story

If you paid only $75 for the book, you got a good deal.

This book has a few editing faults such as pictures referenced in incorrect order. The order of the subject matter seems to jump around and there are some omissions.

However, it still remains as the best single publication on Ross Rifles ever compiled. This is a book I would highly recommend to anyone interested in Ross Rifles.
