The round ball as a hunting bullet

I took a 9 point 175 lb buck with a Fifty cal. ball,never again. I would use my 54 instead still with a round ball load.

One in 48 will shot RB but you have to back up on the powder, i use 75 gr ff Swiss and i got very good accuracy and power to spare under a 100 metres, more powder with the RB will produce slicing to your RB as the twist is to fast, one in 66 is made for full trottle load... JP.

This is totally opposite to my Interarms 50 cal. Hawken, also a 1:48 twist. 75 gr Pyrodex was yielding 6 to 8 inch 50 yards "patterns". I increased gradually to a 110 gr loading (gun is rated up to 120gr.) and the group shrank to 1 1/2 ".

It wouldn't make any diff. in my opinion, because of the weight(momentum).
It would also weigh slightly less.

I think it would be safe to say any spiecies of critter that has walked on the face of the earth since the advent of gunpowder one of it's species has succumb to the round ball!
This would include many men also.

They used to use them on elephants way back when out of a 2 bore. Big balls and lots of powder.
