The Ruger 77/22 is without peer.

No argument there. They are nice looking guns. Seems I find they want more tinkering than some others. Then again that can be luck of the draw too. I like Rugers and they make good looking guns. My CZs were all shooting fine right out of the box. All of my Rugers needed some work first for one reason or another. Still own a couple and have looked at the 7722 as well.
You cant fault them for reliability too. Thats a hard rep to earn so they come by it honestly.

I think your rifle shoots better than most factory 77-22's. I have had several. I like the rifle in general but they are not noted for the best accuracy even with tuning up. However with a quality barrel and a match chamber they can be made to shoot exceptionally well. Not up to par with some of the 'match' grade rifles but close.

I have one that I sleeved for 17 HM2 and it shoots fantastically. 3 shots less under .200" at 50 yards. They are nice rifles.

Tikka, happens every time there is a thread about Rugers. Even on RFC, it seems every time someone posts about a Ruger 77, someone chimes in and says a CZ is better. Makes me want to sell my CZ and buy another Ruger. I have a bunch of 25 round mags for my 77, and I defy any CZ owner to outshoot me while hunting gophers. While you are reloading your 5 or 10 rounders, I'm still shooting, and when I need to reload, I use my Butler Creek reloader. My 77 makes every trip shooting gophers, and the CZ stays at home, I like the CZ, but the Ruger makes a better hunting rifle. And the 3 position safety is far above all others too. JMO.
 
I loved my 77/17HM2, and even more so after getting a Volquartsen target sear to improve the trigger. The bolt handle just barely rubbed on a Leupold 3-9x33 EFR rimfire scope also...the black tape is an excellent idea that I wish I'd known about then.

Sadly I'm more of a semi-auto guy, plus a lefty, so it went to a new home. Seeing threads like this make me want to go get another one though. :)

Many of the threads in the Hunting and Sporting Shotgun forum are about a hunting and sporting arm that happens to be a shotgun.

Are you suggesting that we just have one hunting and sporting arms forum and include all centerfires, rimfires, and shotguns?

Just purchased a 77/22 today looking forward tuning it up to par 7lb trigger pull you got a good one the first thing i will do is replace the trigger if i did not want the experience of making it shoot up to its capability i would have bought a cooper for $2K and had all the negatives done a way with . as far as other makes I doubt if it will one hole it like my 1950 Winchester model 75 Sporting.
