I watched at 20 yards a young buck (small 8point) try to mount a doe while in my treestand tonight. Also, on the drive out, I had to make a quick stop on the highway to let a nice 10 point cross while he had his nose to the pavement. Then, when he got to the other side he just stood there looking stoopid. I should have taken my bow out of the truck and shot him..:ninja:

Get out there and fill those tags boys! (and girls)

None taken mate. Just seems like every time someone writes up a story, more often than not, someone has to pick something apart about the story - usually related to finger on the trigger in a photo, or something similar. Just wears me down, that's all..

Cheers

Buddy works for Lanark County Public Works and spends his day driving around. He says he has been seeing bucks chasing does HARD all this week. Also he is seeing a lot more big bucks out there in the past few days.

So it looks like we are in full swing, too bad I have to work :(. Heading out tomorrow for a few hours with the bow though - better than nothing.

Good news about the rut Tak! What part of ON are you from? Still waiting for it here in my part of Qc... 3 hunting days left :S

Just returned from a a morning hunt. On the way...dead buck on the road 6am. :( In the stand at 7am and out at 12:30. Had does and spike bucks around me at 20 yds all the time - couldn't' eat lunch at all! I was Starving!

Buck aggressively approached a doe, but she bolted immediately. He urped a few times and took after her. At some point I took a leak from my stand, sprayed a few shots of doe in estrus urine and then banged the antlers together. A few minutes later a small buck appeared and walked over my leak - he didn't so much as lift an eyebrow..

I did have one really sketchy doe. She just couldn't relax, not even for a second. If she pulls that shyt tomorrow I'll bring an apple or two to toss her way..:D

Headed back shortly..keep you posted..

Tomorrow morning, the forest will be rockin'! All I can say is, make sure you're part of it!

Good luck!

messed up year for the rut in Ontario. My buddy shot a big 10 pointer near huntsville and its neck wasn't very swollen. Another guy shot a nice 9point in bracebridge the same week and it was rutted up large. Weird year.

Yup, I agree 100%.

Was out tonight and watched a 6 pointer walk by me without a care in the world. Stopped to snack on some oats, looked up at me, and kept on trucking..

Him this morning...
