The SEALS pick the Glock 19. (merged)

Not sure why Glock can't change it up a bit, at least do something with the grip angle, or better sights, or already stippled, maybe make it not look like a Lego gun.
I'm sure the changeover is all about cost.

The sights Glocks come with are to make sure the dovetail doesen't get scratched...

Always budget for a good set of aftermarket sights when buying a Glock. (Heinie's are my preference)

Maybe I watch too many movies, but isn't part of their Philosophy "never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet"? Shouldn't they have chosen the 20 or at least the 21?

Yup, maybe I watch too many movies too but seems to me that when you're fast roping out of a helicopter into the middle of nowhere with a 6 hr hike with 100lbs of gear ahead of you, I'm just gonna go ahead and guess that smaller, lighter ammo would make things more efficient overall?

I have one...I think 2nd Gen.. I like it ! I think I only recall one jam ever on it after few thousand rounds thru it... Was likely the ammo or something.. ? As you can see, I've pimped it out a little... It's nice to be 12-6 grandfathered :d

Don't know why a guy would say he'd not trust his life to a Glock when their known for pretty much always firing and functioning... ?

And this guy is who? Some Jarhead LEG? I did like how the Glock was chosen because firearms are evolving. I guess, in some world far away, the Glock is a new design. Clearly the Sig, being brought to field in 1984 is far behind the Glock which was brought out in 1988.

My first thought as well. The Glock is probably the most reliable pistol ever and a probably a good choice for them but it's far from being a new pistol.

Or have radios that work? Or an over watch for the entire mission?

Quick lets buy all the Glock19 available before they go up in price because they are "SEALs official sidearm" !!!

Exactly! Great choice for the couch commando wannabee crowd. Here I thought I want to buy a SIG 226 Mke 25 cuz the Seals use it and now they don't. Rats! Oh well the Mke 25 will now surely drop in price and besides I am to old to be a Seal...but a couch commando still has a certain appeal. Hell when I was 8 years old my brother and I were Loyal Eddy vets dukkin it out in the fields of the Edmonton Airport with Barry A. and crowd. The latter became a Lt. General in the Cdn Army so the training when we were 8 seemed to have paid off for him LOL.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all

Love that range/facility and have shot and competed on it numerous times day and night. Brought back a lot of good memories.

I still like the Sig. and will stay with the 220. Just never trusted a Glock down my pants.

We fans of Glock are giggling right now, you betcha .

OK, because there is absolutely no politics in what guns are chosen for military contracts? Nor is price an issue. Nope, the SEALS only buy the absolute best handgun without any consideration of any other factors. Keep in mind this is the same military that used the Chauchat in WWI and purchased and then soldiered on with the M60 for decades. Both of those being widely acknowledged as some of the worst guns ever made.

I've owned a Sig and I own a Glock 17 and have considered the 19 but the fact that the SEALs are buying this gun really means very little other than that the gun isn't a total wreck.

it seems like every second week of so the SEALS go with a "new " handgun- so now it's a glock- big f'n deal- it was a sig before that, and before that
maybe the m9 or m12- the only 1 that really impressed me was the hk mk 23 model0 with all the bells and whistles- sure it was big, but it was also 45 acp- next week it'll be the marines buying glocks instead of kimbers or whatever they're fielding now- I tend to take all these so- called reports with a very large grain of salt- the last one I really trusted was a supressed uzi
bozos heard from=1
