The night before the hunt, I am sharpening the hunting knife's, using the "Lansky sharpener". I always use the "25" degree hole in the "Lansky" sharpener. However, does anyone know which of the setting are the best when using the fine "Lansky" knife sharpener ?
We have to be out early on the opening day for "any" mulie buck, and we arrive an hour and half before the first daylight, and thus beat the competition who first shows up at daybreak.
Spotting scope is a must to find the small antlers, and by 8 am the first two pointer are hit through heart and lungs by a 180 grain, 30 caliber "Nosler Ballistic Tip", fired by my hunting partner at over 200 yards. Later I recover parts of the green bullet tip in the meat.
By 10 am, I find a bedded down two pointer, which never moves after a 165 grain, 30 caliber, Winchester goes through the lungs, hitting just past the front legs. the distance was less than 100 yards.
By 4 pm, we have both deer delivered to the meat cutter, and then go home for a shower and nice supper with fine, red wine
