OK, my dad has been bugging me about this for a while. for the record I am completely retarded when it comes to scopes. So here goes, and flame on!

The old man put a bushnell elite on his m305. basically the scope has two big knobs, top and right. The right knob (windage) is too much in the way of the ejection port and the ejected rounds keep banging on the knob. Can he turn his scope 90 degrees counter clockwise so he would have the windage knob up and elevation knob left (instead of elevation knob top and windage knob right) without affecting how the scope functions?

I'm sorry how retarded this may sound, let me face palm my self.

Could you possibly put a condom over the big knob on the right to protect it from getting scuffed? :D

I have face palmed my answer!

Yes you could but for the adjusment of the scope, you will zero with the windage on top and the elevation on the left side, once zero it wont make no difference... JP.

it depends on his AGE- i;m in my late 50's and i've lost my front sight for pistol- if his foresight is blurry, then , yes he DOES NEED a scope, even a low power- that's the reason they make 1x and 1x4s- it;s the inability to focus at intermediate distances

yes it will work, but what hasnt been mentioned here! is that the windage on the scope has about 1/4 of what the elivation does, and depending on the base / rings he MAY not have the adjustment to get a good zero on the elevation.

that depends on the scope's maker- some just mirror the elevation with the windage- you have to count the clicks up AND down and compare
