well,,,I did not do the challenge as I just found the thread but I have been working on 1954r and the results are surprising , I don't mean to hijack the Challenge , I just what to show how some things can improve accuracy .
I won't intrude again .............
I am still tinkering with it ,, so all my friends who enjoy their SKS's , there is a lot of accuracy in these guns , the trick is to squeeze it out of them.
1- Tapco stock'..Used
2-Mag Wedge Gen 2.5 new ,,, Best scope mount I have tried on my SKS .
3- Vortex 4 X 12 40mm
4- low cost bi pod
5- I re crowned the muzzle ( 1/4 inch Brass bolt , and Valve lapping compound ,and a electric drill , 4 zero steel wool to finish . The groups were reduced by 50 % compared to before the re crown.
6 - Home made Muzzle break ( I see a big improvement with it on vs when it is not on )
7 - cleaned and polished and lubed the inside .
8- ran jeweller rouge on patch through the barrel , till it had a bright shine .
9- Romanian 7.62x39 surplus ammo
both 2 targets were at 100 yards .. First target was a zombie , first 2 shots low left , re adjusted scope higher and to the right , 8 shot group .
second target 2 pic ,,, 7 shots , aim point was green square a bit higher up I shot for group , did not adjust scope /
50 yard site in target for scope ,, first time out with it and first time trying the Gen 2.5 rail .
