Hello,

I have heard about an SVT-40 "carbine" called the SKT-40, did they ever actually come into production, does anyone know how many were made if they did? How much would one cost these days?

I love carbines of all kinds and a semi auto carbine would be very interesting to collect in the near future.

It did exist, they ordered 3000 of them in 1940 and never made any more because of the German invason. There were, however, probably more "field expedient" carbines made out of rifles with damaged barrels cut down. Apparently these often will show the stock cut right through one of the slots.

They were factory made but many were made in the field. This is why the SKT-40 is often referred to as the "Partisan Carbine." I'd love to own one.

you could always make one .............

I know i will be flogged for such blasphemy

IF there were an SVT-40 out there with a crap bore at the muzzle, I think one could be forgiven for such blasphemy. For me, it wouldn't be the same though. I wouldn't be satisfied with a bubba'd one (unless bubba's name was "Vlad" or "Boris" and he bubba'd it between 1940 and 1945).

Remove the muzzel brake and a good 6 inches off the barrel commrade! If you are lucky, the next man to pick up your rifle will get a chance to use it! Good luck! Oh and don't forget to drill out the buttstock like the British do! We must learn revolutionary ways!
