The Smith and Wesson Model 14/K-38 Masterpiece

I forgot to add a K-22 Masterpiece as well. it has the dull finish and I did have to have some work done on chambers as way too tight.....works great now.

I have a K-38, 17-3, 27-2 and throw in a 1950's SAA .38 for good luck on the way to me!!!! Loooking forward to pawing over them and introducing them to my 14-3 single action and 28-2 along with 3 S&W antiques ( their grand daddy ).

Well, I have some questions. What was supposed to be a K38 materpiece in.38 special , what I got was a Smith and Wesson Victory model wartime revolver in .38-200! The guy said it was not a deception on purpose, ok, he offered to take it back,ok, also offered to take back an saa that I got same time that was supposed to be unfired a excellent condition was fired a lot and more like good to vg.
I digress, my question is the victory model seems almost new, thevregistration came in as a K38 Combat Masterpiece!! Is this the proper designation for this revolver? I am keeping it as I kinda like it and price was ok. I did a quick cleaning and there was a bunch of goo/Cosmo in the workings the were gumming it up, much better now. These guns were from an estate and I think the guy shot it a few times without cleaning first then put it away. Interesting rig for sure but didn't think they were called combat Masterpieces.

bobdbldr. The K38 Masterpiece and the Victory are both K frames but that is the only thing they have in common. There is something odd going on there and I think you need to resolve it. I have many S&W K frames and I would loose my mind in your situation. The 38-200 is a heavy projectile 38 S&W (not 38 S&W Special aka 38 Special). I safely shoot 38 S&W in my Victory loaded with regular 38 projectiles and it shoots accurately. It will not however begin to shoot as well as the K38 you should have received.

It is really Pi$$ing me off to hear you got treated like this.

Cheers

Yea I was disappointed for sure but he offered to take it back, I declined, the registration says K 38 Combat Masterpiece, I think the guy who originally registered it may have done it wrong or the gubermint messed up. Moe, what does your registration say in the description?

Just checked and nothing specific to it being a Victory. Just revolver, S&W, barrel 127mm.

Even if this does not bother you think down the road when you sell it or your family is trying to handle your estate. You might have to get a verifier involved.

Yea, I will be talking to them in miramichi in the next week or so anyway and will get them to check into the registration!
I have a webley with the war finish on it too, in excellent condition, fun revolvers! Mouse fart power levels but that will help them last!
