The SniPod Touch: When Apps Go Deadly

With iTunes apps it's up to the developer if they will charge for updates or if they'll be free. Easiest way to be sure you're not paying for an update is to click Applications in the left side of the iTunes window, then on the x Updates Available in the lower right corner, and then on the Download All Free Updates button near the upper left corner. The auto updates has been pretty flaky lately though, with some not showing up on the Touch but appearing in iTunes (and vice versa), so checking on both and then syncing is the only way to be sure.

As for the Bulletflight version lagging on Canuck iTunes they may have forgotten to flag it for international use. Maybe drop them an email to see if this is the case, as they might be unaware that we're behind the times.

I haven't purchased it as I'm still playing around with iSnipe and Ballistic, but for the price of a couple of boxes of ammo I suppose there's no reason not to have all three. :)

I got a response from KAC about the app - they said 1.1 should be released in Canada in a few days, but it was 'up to Apple'.

I'm thinking it will be a free update, considering their website says Simple Calculations with Metric are WRONG. I only use metric scopes right now! :)

Generally most updates within a version number will be free (ie 1.1, 1.75, 1.9 etc). When an entirely new version (2.0) is released there is a pretty good chance there will be a fee, although quite often existing users will get a discount.

This is how many Palm and Windows applications and games have done it in the past, but as the App Store is new and quite different it's tough to predict how/if developers will charge for major upgrades.
