A bit of trivia: About 10 years ago, we had one shooter show up at a local cowboy action match, who ran the entire 5-stages that day with a reproduction Spencer carbine. This one, chambered in .44-40.
Of course, his stage times were nothing to brag about. But, he sure had a good time. As did everyone else. As, it was a real hoot watching him run that carbine(He was pretty good with it. With reloads on the clock, too). Without doubt, one of the most interesting and entertaining matches I've ever attended.
