The Stag 10s NR stripped receiver set thread

I bought the full rifle, not in a mood to build lately

The best mid range BCG i've handled for a .308 is the fulton armoury

Thank you sir!

I see that Brownells appears to offer three different BCGs for ARs in .308. I am getting more comfortable with all things AR, but I don't like to pay for high priced low value upgrades. Can you comment on the various finishes, Nitride, Nickel Boron, yadda-yadda?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Nitride is a form of surface hardening - incredibly wear resistant, and a fairly shiny/smooth surface.

Coatings such a nickel boron etc. are added to the surface of the material - much like chrome (different processes, but similar end results) they typically offer enhanced corrosion resistance, and can aid in better lubricity etc.

Also worth noting nitride can be harder to screw up where nickel boron can flake and if improperly applied can increase overall dimensions of the bcg.

So, in the end it sounds to me like nitride is probably a better value, in that it is quite good enough without the possibility of complications, and less money to boot.

Thank you.

A few things to add now that I received my set.

Only 2 complaints that were easily remedied.

- The trigger is OK, but from what people posted on here I thought it would've been better! so I swapped it out for the SSA-E.
- I ended up switching out the bolt catch, the factory one has a very weird design. And the bottom part literally doesn't have enough meat and just digs into your finger. So I threw on a Battle Arms Development enhanced bolt catch.

Everything else is top notch, and puts the BCL stripped set i had to shame.

- Takedown pins are to spec
- Upper and lower has literally zero play
- Finish is perfect
- Magwell is nicely flared and Pmags drop free !
- No " enhanced " offset buffer retainer... lol...
- The CH fits without having to ruin it.
- Fulton Armoury High Pressure Bolt fits
- Fulton Armoury Barrel Fits
- MI handgaurd fits
- The Talon ambi safety fits
- The included triger guard is also nice. Not the standar cheap crap most other companies put on.
- The ejection port cover doesn't have the push feature found on BCL but im sure ill live without it...lol...

Buy the Stag10 stripped set with confidence,

Looks good. Which MI handguard and barrel are you running?

She’s a heavy beach ,about 11 or 12 lbs.

I’m going to switch out the Optic, to something lighter and change the barrel to a CFW.

But for now, this is what I got:)

The bipod is just for balancing ha ha

Hey when the only issue we can find is a bolt release. You know the product is top notch. And It wouldn't be my style not to nitpick at least 1 thing.

Id love to know the reason behind it. Everything on this set was thought out. From the way they did the tentioning screw, the port cover, the cool safety pin, the upper and lower desing and how they used way nicer set screws for the relase and FA.

Where is this tension set screw? I can’t find the god damn thing anywhere...

And what does it put tension on?

Try looking under the pistol grip? If I'm thinking of it correct, it applies tension to the bottom of the rear lug on the upper receiver, to remove any additional play between the upper and lower.

Ok, I won’t mess with that,as mine has zero slop :)

View attachment 194189Had my Stag 10 at the range and put 105 rnds down the pipe.
75 factory and 30 reloads.
Got a couple of 1 1/2 MOA with the reloads, not so good with the factory stuff.
All this was done in an hour and a half and that includes setting up targets and sighting in.
So the barrel was getting hot:)

I don’t think it’s a match grade barrel:)
The good, not one failure and that includes a couple of mag dumps.
Recoil is non existent, might be the brake.

I take back what I said about the trigger being half decent. It sucks.
It’s like ,when the Fuc are you going break.

So I’m adding that to my list of upgrades, well there’s only two, trigger and bolt release.

The scope isn’t the best for target shooting either, reticle is to busy.
Viper PST11 5-25 FFP.
That’s soon going on the EE.
All in all, it’s great gun.
