Our firearms community is a small one, compared to the number of people on the Internet, and only a small percentage of our ranks look at you tube or these forums.

Things like this give a bad view of our sport and recreation. We have enough crap here in Canada from our idiotic gun laws without giving ammunition to those who would like to see our guns destroyed or banned.

While it might be amusing, it creates a false impression with those who do not use or understand guns. This clip shows that a gun can be dangerous and blow up. With impressions like that, how do we attract new shooters to our sport?

Yes, guns can be dangerous. If misused by idiots, they are doubly dangerous. Nothing is foolproof..fools are very ingenious...as this movie clip shows.

Even an BB gun for crying' out loud.

Get off the Nazi safety/political high horse and just enjoy the idiotic tomfoolery , because that is just exaxcly what this was.
You should maybe call for a ban on those two wingnuts from mythbusters of you think that stuff is dangerous.

If you think that is funny, you should try watching a Professional Trapper screaming in frustration whilst wrapping a $2000.00 rifle and scope around his bull-bar.....I have seen this very thing, and literally pissed myself laughing.
In retrospect it was probably not wise to show mirth at the unfortunates "troubles"......but Christ it was funny !

Boys will be boys, and what is the point of being grown up if we cannot be childish now and then.

Ps, I am with Blargon...it probably was that bloody Tasco !

I just watched the "Torture Test" on Guns and Ammo Tv and they loaded a T/C encore 300 win mag with a really hot load, the receiver blew apart like nothing it was awsome! Really fun to watch.
thinking a little more about this... maybe we should ban the T/C Encore:slap:

Wow. I didn't think that I would start such a controversy by replying.

Like I said, it is unfortunate that these things are out there for everyone with a computer to see. Our gun community, and only a small part of that, will access that site. However, millions of people who are not shooting minded like we are also access that site. A few individuals put a stamp on all of us by their actions. This gives ammunition to the do gooders, anti-gun people, PETA, and all the rest of the many organizations that want to curb our activities and freedoms.

Secondly, what does it prove? That we can blow up a gun if we misuse it? People have been doing that for a hundred years or so. If there was a purpose to this, other than just blowing up the rifle for the hell of it, some good information could come out of it.

Next, it is poorly done. One camera close up, it explodes, then nothing. If these guys had used three cameras, using close up, medium, and a long shots, then edited the footage to produce something that would be useful and informational, it would have been more spectacular. Showing the remains of the rifle would have provided information that would be of use to members, especially the newer ones.

This reminds me of some you tube videos about hunting Gophers. The guy took a dead gopher, put it about three feet in front of the muzzle of a .243, laid down and fired a round into it. Wow. Spectacular. Gopher guts all over the place. What footage! What an idiot!

Well guys, lets make it even more impressive. Instead of a cheap Stevens, lets use a Weatherby, or better yet, a Cooper or other expensive rifle. Lets get creative. Maybe you could wear clown suits to give your video colour.

Better still, fire it from the shoulder. Now, that would be really impressive.

Wonder what kind of comments I'll get about this post!

They used HS6 to prove a point about using the wrong powder. I loved it, i showed it to my 11 year old daughter so she understands why you use the right powder and measure it. Les

You seem so knowledgeable on the subject of dressing up like a clown and doing stupid boy things.....Soooo, we will follow your lead and try this ourselves......can we use your pretty costumes, pleaaase !

They blew up a rifle = one less rifle in the world....I think the anti's will be happy.:D My only complaint is that they should've used a Remington 710/770 instead.
