That’s how it goes,
A great friend(whynot) bought a Husqvarna mod 98 in 9.3x57 with a nice old 1.5-4 Pecard scope on claw mounts. He decided he wanted an other 9.3x62 so got the rifle re chambered to that and then decided to gift it to me after seeing how much I loved the thing and how well it fitted me.
I tried really hard to make that gun shoot but nothing would actually work so I told Ted that I would give him the rifle back…
Ted decided to get it rebarreled by Bill Leeper in 30-06 with a take off barrel that came from Corythecowboy.
So off she goes to the spa!
Bill is a busy man so it took a while for the rifle to come back. Bill worked its magic, spinning that barrel on and reinstalling the sights and a barrel band front sling, worked the trigger a little and then she made her way back north! And into my hands yesterday!
I cleaned it really well and managed to go to the range today, first shot at 25m to confirm zero then 2 shots at a 100m the fine tune where I wanted it(3” high at 100m) and then a five shot group cause everyone knows it is the only way to do it
and here is the result, first 3 shots in less than 5/8” then 2 more shots for a total of 5 in just under an inch a 100m from the bench, with an old scope at 4x with a German no1 reticle and the least expensive ammo I could find, norma whitetail 180 soft points. So I’m pretty darn happy to say the least rifle as is weight in 7lbs 12oz and has a flip flop recoil pad!!
So some times you don’t need a $2000+ set up to be accurate!!
