The STURMGEWEHR 44/22 thread:

GSG rail:

Canadaammo sells the stg mount for $45. I was thinking about picking one up but I don't think I'll scope it.
I have a compact 4x32 scope coming for the jw-25a as that will be used for pest control. And I like the look of the smaller scope on the Mauser.

IIRC, that Pici rail GSG is offering requires removal of the factory rear sight. I don't want to do that; I think it would spoil the look.
Also requires a 'scout' scope with lots of eye relief.
I think I'll order one of those 'claw' mounts. The scope will need to be high enough for the 'bell' to clear the factory sight.

Incidentally, the 1" high rings I tried on my jw-25 Mini Maus were too low, so I had to switch to higher ones for the same reason.

Hi, I have receive this rail from EBay ($8.88 US) and it's fit perfectly on the Stg-44

Yes, that's an option to be considered. Some of the product reviews say to use caution when tightening the mounting screws so as to not strip the threads of the four 'claws'. Looks like some HIGH rings will be required to allow your scope to clear the factory rear sight.
I certainly like the price. What did they charge for shipping?

My STG-44 arrived in the mail today. Even nicer in person than photos will ever give it credit .
It arrived in a reproduction canvas sling bag and the second I opened the box my house smelled like a surplus store. It was a wonderful unboxing.

Lucky you! Mine came in a cardboard box painted to look like a wooden crate.
No, seriously!

I picked up mine from the EE. Don't think it arrived in the original box but it came with a reproduction sling, bag, and three magazines.
The stg-44 along with the chiappa m1-22 and the jw-25a is a pretty good start to my reproduction collection.

Bought one last week and got to try it again. Tried four different types of high velocity .22 ammo including bulk ammo. All worked fine. Gun was shooting low though at 15 meters. I had to put the rear sight to the highest setting to hit the 10meter air rifle target on the 6-10 rings.
Any suggestion on fixing this issue?

I have read about this gun shooting low on other forums too, and some people are setting the rear sight at the lowest setting and filling the front sight down, so it's zero at 25 yrds.
I just bought one of these yesterday, haven't shoot it yet. we will see how it shoots first before I think about filling the sight.

Hi, Casper,

Have a look at post #57. That was my solution back a few months ago.
I don't think there was much effort spent at the factory to calibrate that
sight. The fact that I was able to hit at 50yd with the sight set on its
"5" setting is probably just coincidence. But it's a point of reference anyway. I've got to get out there and shoot it some more before I'll have a reliable zero. I'm still thinking of scoping it, but... 'too many guns, too little time'!
Keep us posted.
