If you don't have the gas adjustment tool, I'd strongly suggest getting one. It will greatly extend the life of your brass. I believe Frontier has them for about $20.....
 
Thank i did buy it from Frontier a year ago, depending on ammo the set up is change time to time... JP.

I fire the 203gr. MFS through my SVT during the hunt, never had a problem with it.

at the range I fire the same ol' Chinese milsurp, good enough for punching holes.

Congrats on the purchase, the SVT-40 is an excellent firearm.
 
haha sorry, couldnt resist all nice and cleaned up just got a box full will be some in the exchange. they very good shape thought the condition would be goin down but i was wrong. all dated 40-41. all great bores, all have the non- navel stock. most have narrow trig gaurds. im totally in love with the way they shoot. they are a fantastic gun
 
Anyone shoot the MFS 185gr FMJ in thier SVT? I have a '43 SVT-40 and Im considering picking up a few boxes locally.

Hate to say it, but a '41 refurb SVT-40 isn't exactly a milsurp I'd never shoot and plan to retire on. Go and shoot it, it wont hurt the value. If it was an unfired Johnson or G43 sniper on the other hand.......
 
I've got 3, shoot 2 of them when I can. The queen is a 1940 Izhevsk that is too nice to risk me dinging it up at the range. Have another '40 Izzy in an AVT stock that I shoot the most, and a '41 Tula that is kind of a cranky old SOB and not a great shooter. But its seen heavy combat so I show it respect and let it stretch out from time to time.

I know refurbs arent worth didly compared to non refurbs. I meant it will be worth more whn theyre all bought up
