The T97 Thread!

I renew my old question, does anyone know where one may acquire an original QBZ lower handguard?

Nope, closest ive seen is a full size Chinese qbz95 toy on ebay for $129, but I don't know if the lower was removable, had any actual trigger, was decent plastic, etc.

edit: just looked. Non removabale, and not even the same style.

I did this! Drilled out the rivet and put a small bolt thru on the left side. Found a plastic spacer as a filler and nicer grip
Sort of like a C6 handle... it still needs some refining.. but much better to the side then using your fingers on the top in its stock form...

Pics one day.

I was thinking a small bolt but id like to figure out something a bit more refined.

Wonder if this would work with the ftu?

It should, looks like it doesnt clear past the bolt charging handle bracket so there shouldnt be an issue with it not clearing the FTU.

Might track one down and put it out the opposite side as my non receipts ting handle. Would act as a forward assist, and an ambi charging handle...

What optics is that?

Edit: reliable gun has them. Not cheap but one is on the way.

Alrighty so I got out yesterday to do some shooting. I knew I had some specific mags my T97 didn't like so I wanted to single them out. That went great.

Now in doing this I loaded up all my mags and emptied them back to back. 300 rounds later I had figured out which mags were the issue. That's not the problem... My gun was HOT.

Now here's my ideas to remedy this... Gloves because I was shooting bare handed. Or like a rubberized coating for the front of the LHG...

Opinions?

Recent photos of the People's Armed Police trailing that FAMAS-style rail we all saw a while back

I bought a T97.ca FTU that I haven't installed yet as I actually like the carry handle style upper with the T97 rail insert. This FAMAS style rail would actually be quite a bit nicer. (hint for the guys at t97.ca).

Looks like a Aimpoint T1 with UTG riser. China Armed Froce purchased a lot of Aimpoint and Eotech in recent years.

I actually asked them about the possibility of making one a bit over a year ago, as I thought it was obvious that there is definitely sizable market for people who:
1) Want carry handle rails, FAMAS or QBZ style
2) Don't want to cut up their rifle

They were militantly opposed to the concept, scoffed at the idea that anyone would want something so clearly inferior to their current product, (politely) called me a liar and deleted the thread. I think it's safe to say they're not interested.

I have a few ideas for designs myself but wouldn't even know where to begin. I'm kind of curious as to how the Chinese optics attach to the rail, as that might be a good way to mount a replacement upper.

dang. One of the main reasons I haven't install the FTU is that I really like how flat the rifle is with the top (vertical) actuated charging handle. The rail in the military pictures looks beefier than the DIY on first page of this thread (really like the look of that one), likely even strong enough to be used as a carry handle altogether let alone attaching a handle to it.

Same, no protruding charging handle if you wanted it slung across your back. You really have to look hard for the good features of the T97's design, so I don't like the idea of sacrificing any of them.

Don't know what transpired, but might not be unique behaviour when a business does not view potential customer's input as free advice, but instead view it as criticism/insult.

I tried to my post as non-critical as possible, along the lines of "Because of x y and z factors, I think some people will never consider buying an FTU. A significant number of people have expressed interest in this style of rail, which would also satisfy those factors. Would you consider making one as an alternative?"

I was completely taken aback, it was not the response I was expecting from them at all. If they weren't interested, I figured they'd just give me a "Sorry, it does not fit our design philosophy" or some such, and that would have been the end of it.

Almost forgot, they were also editing my posts and images in the thread. I don't remember to what extent, only that I thought the changes were manipulative, and I was a little creeped out that they would do that. I'm pretty sure they deleted it because they realized how it looked for them.

This is not to say they don't make a good product. If anything, I wish they'd make what they have MORE available. If they bothered to offer their enlarged magazine release button on it's own, I'm sure people would snatch them up like hotcakes.

Their parts list has a gen 2 magazine release button coming soon.
