The T97 Thread!

I think I don't know how to use the iron sights, any tips?

Are you supposed to centre the peep ring on the iron sights?

On the Chinese military QBZ95, the entire front sight tower drifts left and right, keeping the post perfectly in the middle of the front hood, and everything lines up nicely, a post within a circle within a circle.

On the rifles we got, EMEI cut some corners and part of that is the garbage front sight that has the post drift inside the hood, making everything wonky-

You'll likely get two distinctly different sight pictures - one with the front post centered in the peephole, and one with front hood centered in the peephole.

Both will give you roughly the same point of impact, but best results will come from the one on the left, with the post in the middle of the peep. It just gets very distracting with those overlapping circles because it looks wrong.

Hey guys ..I have had one of these for a whole..just with the FTU...and a magpul forend...I basically copied the one from the Web site ( the old pic on the wood pile...)with the exception of doing it in od green...it has never let me down. I also use orange follower lar mags ..out of the 3 I have one doesn't like to have more than 11 rounds in it..but I could break it in a bit more I bet...

More than 10 rounds in a LAR mag is prohibited.

Anybody tried getting their muzzle threaded? I got the factory flash hider off in hopes of threading the muzzle for a surefire brake. Using a vernier caliper the barrel diameter is .554 inches so I guess it needs to be taken down to .50 or .49 in order for it to be threaded. Only issues is the barrel is pinned into the reciever so it won't go in a lathe too easy. Anybody attempted this and figure out a way around it? Normally I'd say screw it and remove the barrel from the reciever myself but I'm hesitant.. just looking to do a 1/2"×28 thread. Any help is appreciated. Cheers!

I am going to. Once my brake shows up.

But so far, no I haven't.

Let me know how it goes! I'm getting to the point where I might just remove the barrel from the reciever at my shop and then send the barrel to a smith but most places have said they won't touch it

I ran into the same problem; 'smith' I talked to would not thread the barrel unless I sent him the brake I wanted on it. SJW much?

Calgary shooting Centre said $325 to get the current brake off and thread it. But that was when I thought it was metric thread + pinned. Not just pinned.

Once my brake shows up, I can knock the pin out and just get it threaded, hopefully for under $300 lol.

Got 2 T97's threaded to 1/2 28tpi. One was by a friend from Evansberg, the other TSE's gunsmith Torfi if he's still there. Heard Dlask has done a few as well but got declined as they were busy. Looking at $100-$130 if I remember correctly. I'd say its worth it and good luck with your project.

Anyone ever have a trigger reset problem?

Buddy has a new T97, had trigger reset issues a few times the first day.

Then it was working great today for maybe 80 rounds... then trigger wouldn't reset maybe 1/2 the shots. Had to push the trigger forward.

Ideas?

I had that issue early with my T97. It got so bad that I actually had to strip it down at the range to fix it.
The pin and rod system the T97 uses for the trigger isn't perfect, and at times the rod will come out of the pin. It got really bad with mine, to the point where I wanted to walk away from the gun. But I found that using a small washer to hold the rod into place on the pin did the job. Hundreds of rounds later and it hasn't had that failure again.

I don't have any pics, but I could snap some later today. My iron sights came in today, so I'll be playing with my rifle after work.

Dlask told me the same, so I abandoned the project.
I would love to get it threaded though. I don't own an AR rifle *(yet), but I like to tinker and the T97 loves to be tinkered with. It just sucks so bad out of the box, any amount of polishing helps a lot.

Hmm we looked and the rod was on the pin. That was my first thought. Unless it pops on and off. Just put a tiny washer against the receiver to hold the rod into the pin?

On a semi related note. I wish someone would make a safety delete for it. Just a pin with 2 slots cut would work. I guess I could cut my safety lever off the outside.

Hmm I'm for sure getting mine threaded. I bought an AR, super fun to customize but I don't enjoy shooting it as much. My T97's haven't had a failure in probably 1500 rounds. To me they feel a lot more robust than my AR.

Thanks for the tips I'm gonna try to give those guys a call! I got the factory flash hider off pretty easy at my shop and have an AAC brake in the mail headed my way so I'm eager to get this sorted. If all else fails I may attempt to remove the barrel from the reciever and take it to one of my local smith's in Vancouver.

Just smack the pin out and pull?

Hi all! Got my new to me T97 to the range, took 15 mags along as I hear they're finicky with mags. Here's the problem twice I got rounds pushed back inside the casing.. Is there a fix besides polishing the ramp? And the BIG PROBLEM one mag fired 2 rounds like the rifle was an auto then in another mag it fired 4 rounds like an auto.. What would cause this? Pull and hold trigger and blattttt! Release the trigger it stops squeeze trigger fire last round. I can find no broken internals but I'm new to this style of rifle and am a bit lost. Any help would be great!
Thanks!
