The T97 Thread!

Just a thought on these "bipods"; A buddy mounted a pair on the side rails of his quad-rail XCR-L. He said that for bench shooting it was fine, but if you have the bipod deployed and drop prone, something's gonna break. Because the metal is relatively cheap, and the force being applied to the picatinny rail is lateral, he found this out when he was doing some action shooting, went to prone, and one bent and the other sheared off on him - both at the mounting point.

is it normal for the LHG to be a purplish tint? The website says its black and i'm planning to get one but want it to match the finish of the rifle

A lot of them have a purplish tint. It depends on the batch.

My two aren't too bad, I can tell the difference in certain light. My friends newer one is deep black.

Some of the posted pictures look really purple...

thanks, I guess it'll be 50/50, ill probably ask the t97 guys before i buy one to make sure the one i get is deep black

just picked up a t97 gen 2 since they were on a pretty good sale, probably not going to bother with the LHG for now. Are there any cheek-risers/rests that are compatible with the t97?

Not aware of any, but consider where the ejection port is located - might be tough to build a cheek riser for it...

Thanks for the sling mod suggestions. I was eyeing up that single point adapter Durham is carrying but was interested to hear what others were using. That does seem to be the best option though.

On the topic of purple LHGs, I picked one up recently that was purple in the pictures that were on the EE, but is black in person. Go figure.

On the topic of cheek risers, I used to have T97 FTU that had low mount rings on its scope. It was comfortable enough to shoot but I put an AR co-witnesses height mount on my new rifle and find it quite comfortable to shoot without a cheek weld. YMMV.

Finally, anyone have a suggestion for a source for cheap rail sections for the LHG? I want to put an AFG on.

So I finally went for it and bought a T97 carry-handle version.

Figure it'll be my project this year. Has anyone installed the ambi-mag release by SRC Gunworks?

Also, the previous owner has the pic rail on the handle so I was thinking due to the height-over-bore that a TRS-25 or other red dot would be a good optic?

On the topic of purple LHGs, I picked one up recently that was as purple as Prince in the pictures that were on the EE, but is as black and proud as James Brown in person. Go figure.

The T97.ca rails fit into the slots on the lower / upper.

Thanks for the info on the rails. I came to the conclusion that only proprietary rails were compatible after trying every rail I have in my possession and none would work with out some significant modification. I am going to have order a few things from t97.ca it seems. I want to put some sort of AFG on and I have looked at the one they produce, but it looks too close to the trigger guard for my preference, and I think my support hand grip would interfere with my trigger finger when it's out of the guard resting on the side of the rifle.

I spent over an hour last night setting up a scope and mount I got for the rifle, getting it nice and level, retightening with loc-tite once I was happy, getting the laser bore sighter out, and once I got it all put together nicely I cocked the charging handle and sliced my fingers wide open on the optic mount retention screws. Word to the wise that mounts with left side screws/bolts/QD levers might not work well with the left side charging handle. Ouch.
