The T97 Thread!

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered one of the $999 Gen 2s from Tendas on the last day of their boxing week sale.

Has anyone tried a low power variable optic on their flat top? Looking to hear thoughts on it. I have a 1-8 vortex Strike Eagle on another rifle that might do well on the T97.

I originally had a 3-9 scope on mine which I found is a bit of an overkill but then I recently changed to a HoloSun + Vortex 3X magnifier which works out pretty good. I will start off with the magnifier in 45 degrees position and flip it on if I need it.

I have a Vortex 1-6 Strike Eagle on mine. Love it.

HEY yalls, while everyone was dangling around, finding the full solution to E=mC^howdoimountaoptic!?!? I did some snooping around and came across this:

. Now I’m sure everyone is fascinated and really want to know more about it so here it is. It’s a rail made by a Chinese manufacture specializing in Chinese firearms. No, not norinco but someone else. The rail is currently going under testing with Chinese SF units and may become prohibited for export in the future. After spending 10 hours Straight on the deep web using my atrociously disfunctional Mandarin skills, I was able to locate someone who had some. He is asking around $1000 CAD each for them. A little pricier than I wanted but it is what it is. I think I might get one myself so if you are interested in getting one, let me know.

I like it, but for $1K it's a tad steep. My T97 just has the rail insert that gives me a very similar optic profile but I think it cost $45.00. I also bought the FTU from M14.ca ($400), however because I am both lazy and really like the feel of the very flat T97 I haven't installed it yet.

I have a 3-9 on one of mine. Fairly heavy package but otherwise great. Find it great out to 300.

Would love one of those but not for 1000$.

Late to the party but I did great with the LAR pistol magazines. No misfeeds, always in and out without a snag. The same mags work perfectly in the M&P I am selling. I installed mag wedges for looks and practicality.

I have had surprisingly mixed results with seemingly identical steel LAR10 pistol mags in my T97. The grey ones I had originally bought from Quest online have worked without a hiccup, however the black ones I picked up in a 10 pack from Canada Ammo were a very different story. Although they both fed fine, the black one(s) did not insert into the magwell easily, the one I really tried to jam in there literally jammed in there, I had to disassemble the rifle and damage the magazine to get it out.

Why would this upper adapter be in trials with SF units? The Chinese military is in the process of phasing out the QBZ95 for this rifle

And these uppers aren't really new. Years ago, they played with various upper variants that never came to fruition.

This isn't the first time we've heard this, yet the QBZ95s are still here. The rifle in the photo you posted looks like an upgraded QBZ03, and has been specifically described as a trials rifle that was not selected in the sources I've seen. It reminds me of the "US to hold trials for new rifle" we've been hearing every few years that always turns out to be nothing.

The QBZs we have are pretty good, all things considered, and the rifles the PLA actually use are of much higher quality. I don't think they're going anywhere.

Is anyone else having issues with their t97 gen 2 and usgi mags, they will fit and feed the initial round just fine in my particular rifle but after the first shot the recoil pops the mag out from the gun....really annoying to say the least. LAR-15 mags work perfectly fine (the factory mag is a joke ftf every round and pops loose too) but i was surprised that usgi mags were giving me an issue especially since peoples experience on here has been that they are gtg.

never heard of auto ejecting mags..

Amazing feature right, pretty great if you wanna pretend to be a total boss at emergency reloads trash for everything else. In all seriousness though I think I may have found the problem when I stripped the gun down. The right hand ejection button wasn't screwed all the way in which (in conjunction with the already loose fit of the usgi mags) wasn't providing enough force to retain the mag. Popped out the mag catch degreased everything and reassembled with loctite. Will test it out at the range and report back with the results
