The T97 Thread!

I'm starting to develop an interest in these bullpup things....
Before you bought your T97's what other rifles did you try and what made you all go the T97 route
Reason I ask is that the WK180 is also a rifle I have an interest as well
However I can only afford one or the other

I tried a lot of traditional rifles. Handled a Keltec RFB and wanted one, but price and 308 pushed it out of the running.

Really only other one at the time commonly available was the Tavor and again, price pushed it out of the running.

Got my first T97 and never looked back. Love it.

The 180 is decent, I find it much more front heavy and more unruly to point. The bullpups really shine for being compact and handy.

Nice. I asked him a few months back and tried to persuade him to reconsider. Sounds like others probably did the same. I avoided the T97 because the LHG wasn’t available.

I don't see the point. For added 400$ price tag, you might as well get an RDB. It will be cheaper, more ergonomic and not made in China.

I recently bought a wk180c magpul edition, quickly flipped it and switched to a gen3 type 97.

The wk180C was very front heavy, and with certain mags, the bolt couldn't go into battery. The bolt catch was engaged with loaded mags.
The type 97 has been 100% reliable

I got a Gen 3, and I have three questions.

First, just wondering if theres a way to get a 2 point QD sling to work with this rifle, if not, what sling do you guys use?

Second, is there any guide on how to modify the magwell to better fit more mags?
I have Gen 3 PMAGs, some of the black ones are real tight but work, and some of the black ones are just too tight to use but my Gen 3 black 40rd PMAG drops free
My Gen 3 FDE Windowed PMAGs work perfect, they even drop free
I have no idea why there is a difference, if anyone knows what the numbers exactly mean on the side of the PMAGs that would be cool.

Third, does anyone have shorter muzzle devices for the T97? I heard its a proprietary thread pitch. I also heard its welded in addition to being pinned. I only see a pin

Only if you add sling spots to it. I just use a clip on sling.

I’ve always promoted adjusting magazines instead of the rifle... otherwise the magazines that do work now will just be loose... it’s 99% needing the spine of the mag made very slightly thinner.

You can put any muzzle device you want on it, after you thread it. It’s pinned... there’s no threading underneath.

I owned an AR15 before my first T97, which I bought used on a whim. The T97 Gen1 is arguably the worst bullpup available in Canada, and yet the advantages stood out to me enough that it sold me on the bullpup concept.

The T97 is cheap, light, small, simple, accurate, easy to maintain and is a lot of fun to shoot.

Thanks for the info

Pre-order for the LHG is now up. This thing isn't cheap that's for sure. $489.95 + 26.50 for shipping = 516.45 CAD

"Note: this is a pre-order and our expected completion date is May 31st 2021 at this writing"

Yes add 15% to that. $593.92 to get one all in. If it's in machining now, hopefully they release the finished ones to the buyers in order received, and not just wait till 31 May.

So the complete rifle is pushing 1800 CAD. This price point defeats the purpose of buying Chineese. Just get an RDB for 1500 CAD (1800 with aftermarket rail).
