The T97 Thread!

If you like pistol mags, you may want to try Cross Mags; I've seen them appear in a number of Type 97 videos.

Cross mags wouldn’t work in either of my t97’s and half my ARs lol.

For T97’s it seems to work best not to hit the mag up, but instead lock it in and pull down slightly on it so it’s not feeding too high.

Also gets picky if the mag is loose and you rest the rifle on the mag.

I had failure rate of around 0.5% when I use the lar15 mags. About 1 in every 200 the bullet get pushed into the case creating a failure. However I have not experience any sort of this failure with the pmag.

Gen 2/3 PMAGs have worked really well with my Gen 1 overall. I think that magpul follower probably helps with reliability.

I was disassembling my T97 today, and one of the hex screws that attaches the flat top upper to the gun stripped. Anyone know how I can get a replacement ?

I know North Slyva doesn’t have the best reputation for T97 warranty but I did contact them before about getting replacement parts, they were selling the top screws as a set for $3.89 before shipping. Might want to check the Allen wrench you’re using as well, I believe they use metric for them and not hex.

What if i told everyone that I found a place we can get these sick ass rails?

https://imgur.com/gallery/QPhHA

they are asking $1500 +shipping per rail unfortunately

There was an airsoft group in California 3D printing the longbow type rails a few years ago. I reached out to them but they had stopped producing them. These ones are likely the real deal, and they are becoming harder to get as they as smuggled out of China.

Just picked up a t97 ftu and field stripped it for a cleaning first time today. Looks like I'm part of this thread now lol
Look forward to shooting it and picking your brains for tips as questions come up

Doctor deals in Moncton has a few t97 parts for sale If anyone is looking. Front site post, trigger bar (piece that runs from trigger to the sear) gas piston might be another cross pin or something. They had a stripped receiver with the barrel for $100 but it’s gone now, wish I would have seen that.

Ohhh fancy

Edit: either I missed every part or I can’t find any on their site.

Search for type 97 in the search bar. Still a few parts there. Looks like they had an entire rifles worth at one point. Darnit

Edit: there’s some pictures of the inside of the receiver. looks like buddy filed his feed ramps. And I mean REALLY filed them lol, I’m wondering if he didn’t take an angle grinder to it or something. I guess that explains where these parts came from.

That worked. Not sure why whatever I searched didn’t lol.

Holy many keep that guy away from firearms.

Hmm $80 for the gas piston. Ehhh

Surprised they don’t have more, combined total of the parts listed is over $1000 lol.

I suppose he/she was trying to recoup some of their loss after they butchered the receiver lol. The prices are steep, unless you were really hard up for major parts or you are flush with cash I’d probably pass.
