the taboo of predator hunting

just wondering what your thoughts of predator hunting is i've been getting a since that many people think its taboo even hunters i love hunting bobcat and fox and would love to go bag a bear or cougar one day but when people see my pelts and trophy there always giving me a bad look

PS anyone subscribe to predator extreme?

Ask those people who look down on you if they have ever witnessed a coyote pulling a lamb out of a ewe, or tormenting a cow that is trying to protect her newborn calf.
I hunt predators, and make absolutely no apologies to anyone for anything I hunt.

I think that for me a fifth deer kill will be similar to a fourth or sixth kill

They are all special in one way or another, thats why most of us hunt. If you wont enjoy it after the first one, then dont bother at all.

the fascination of a second, third or fourth bear or cougar kill compared to the first? That's where you lose me... Do people have 5 bear mounts, 5 rugs?

Once again, they are all special in some way. I know lots of people with more than 5 rugs or mounts of one animal.

One of my very good friends has over 15 bear rugs, mounts etc. and he just came back with two more. And I say, good for him! If he is enjoying himself and doing it legaly, who cares.

Finn, to me it sounds like you are trying to justify to yourself why you want/need to hunt. Either your a hunter or your not, it's very simple. Pretty hard to be both.

Or chasing down a pregnant doe till she collapses and goes into labor from the stress and exhaustion, or eating the vulva of a live cow, or...

My assumptions of bear and cougar kills, and where I find the taboo, is hunting for sport, not use. I'm not saying I'm right, but other than pure blood sport, I don't understand the repeated motivation to kill a non-food animal, which I why I'd choose not to. I

You realize that when you kill your deer for meat, you are hunting for sport, right? If it is ONLY about the meat, you coul just go and buy a free range organic cow.

Whatever animal anyone chooses to hunt it's their own decision, so long as the law is followed (weather or not we thinks it's right). Each person has there preferences and no one can make the choice or should try and criticize
for making the choice or push there ideas on them. When it comes down to it there is You, Gun and Animal. Your choice your responsiblity.

I think you should hunt for a few years, prior to making any firm decisions about what you will/will not hunt or do.

For the record, if you kill a black bear in BC, you will be required to remove the meat, just like a deer.

Some of my predator hunting has been out of a request by farmers/landowners....

Chicken eating foxes, coyotes attacking cattle during calving season,
un-fruitful hunt for wild boar, at a rural community in Manitoba, that was literally plagued by them.

One could easily surmise I (insert fellow CGN hunters)was just helping out when asked to do so to the best of my abilities.

100 years ago this would not be an issue, and many many present naysayers would be compelled to do the same out of sheer neighborliness/duty to community.

Some people never forget that the stewards of the land, sometimes require an extra helping hand to continue dairy/cattle/sheep farming.
So my fellow predator hunters, what is your valued opinion of those who choose not to help?
In my view those who do not lift a finger to help farmers, earn NO right to shame those that do.
Without the fur trade this country would not exist as it is today.

I am not saying wipe out any certain species, just give them a healthy dose of, hands off the chicken coop!

Its our weak and lamebrained society, that has forgotten it's roots to the land, sense of "right vs wrong."
These persons are the same breeding stock as those persons in Europe, that destroyed the fur trade market in '82, that coincidently built many fortunes and castles in Europe

I could really, go on and on here in a negative tone, but I am too polite to do so.
