The TAVOR

:dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana::dancingbanana:

It's finally September. We who placed an order for the TAVOR and didn't get one due to the bolt may now rejoice. We were promised to have ours delivered in September. I know, it'll be the last hour of the last day of September, but the long wait is almost over.

On another note, why have there been no posts on the TAVOR? Have those who got theirs been too busy at the ranges to tease us more? I'm definitely not jealous, but ....

Regards,

Nah...
Just been short on time to get out and give her a run....
Had 3 out on the 'LMS Carbine 1' course at Abby this weekend....I'll post thoughts and comments as soon as I have time to get my sh*t together..

Please do, I'm interested in how they run under pressure

I put over 1,000 rounds through mine at LMS. Two possible slamfires right in the beginning. Both at the top of the first two LAR15 10 shot mags, with 9 inside. After that, nothing .
It ran flawlessly.
One double feed that was probably my fault. Happened while we were setting up malfunction drills.
I hadn't shot anything much since I started shooting rimfires when I was 17. Less than 200 centerfires.
I was able to place second by one point in the Qual.
The Tavor points extremely well.
Sucks shooting support side. I had my mouth open breathing, and caught a hot shell on my lip. Just one though. That was self correcting. ;o)

HA! Just noticed the ejected casing middle left. Cool!

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. The Mepro did ok at the closer ranges, but I am sure I could have done better with something else on it.

Check out my post a while back... I ran it through the Tactical Response IDFR course in GP... no problems.

Seen your pics Doc - where's the toaster....

Waitn' on the rails, bro, waitn' on the rails....that, and I think the jam may'O been recalled....:runaway:

As DOOK and 999 say…about a 1000 rounds, with no issues, aside from those induced by the operator, and operator error.
Of note, 999 took the top score in the qualification, with DOOK 1 point behind. I managed to finish middle of the pack, with a poor operator performance on the advancing fire component.

The rifle handles well, fast to point, fast to come on target with the Mepro; groups are certainly ‘minute of dot’, more than satisfactory for a battle rifle. Benching it the day before the course yielded a 5 round 2” group at 100m with American Eagle 55gr, about the best I can shoot with the amoeba dot…

Only 1 double in the 1000+ rounds expended, but as DOOK says, it may have been a 10 round mag issue. Of note with the doubling- the weapon is fully controllable though the firing sequence of both rounds; it’s over before the muzzle comes off target, and, in my case, both shots were hits on the steel plate, at 15 yards.

Unlearning the AR ergonomics is a challenge…. 999 passed on a lot of good tips, particularly for the manipulation of the bolt hold open (a special thanks to 999 for getting rid of that redundant trigger spring for me….). Mag changes are a breeze, but gloves are recommended….still cleaning the blood off the mag release, from the back of the thumb joint..

The biggest issue for me is just plain learning the new ‘manual of arms’ associated with this rifle.

Once a rail is more widely available, this'll be a tough rifle to beat for service conditions.

There are some of us who continue to wait for our new Tavor. At least you people appear to have oneto enjoy, shoot, look at, hold, caress, and so forth.

One of thesedays I too shall be in a seventh heaven with my own Tavor.

When? When? When?

Regards, and jealous!

Well I am in the same kinda position you guys are since my gun slamfires now and if I shoot it get lectured about full autos. So I will just leave it in the safe until I have the new bolt cause its not worth the agravation of trying to explain myself at the range.

I would just tell these people to STFU. Its not like you brought a full-auto to the range.
