The TAVOR

Hey if it's an onine price it may be L$1000 (linden dollars). The exchange is L$250 to US$1.

That makes the Tavor US$4. At today's exchange that's Cad$4.10.

CanAM will you pick one up for me and drop it off at my place. I can pay you in empty pop bottles.:D

btw Are virtual bullets weighed in grains or pixels?

LOL! Pop bottles... If you don't have them handy you can still apply for the 4 monthly payments, but only if yer a real L337 |{@Xo|r

Nice to meet you too!

Show me where I can get a civie Tavor for $1k and I will give you one. Mister 1 post, that is a VIDEO GAME WEBSITE.

I am sure that if you buy 10,000 units, you have some negotiating room...
But are you sure that is a game site?
I see a few game refs and a sub-forum, but it looks more like tankers to me
(course, I may be wrong... I don't have that much time on my hands to browse the whole damn thing.)

Maybe 10%. We bought in the 4 digits.

^^ don't get me wrong... I am in no way suggesting that you are trying to run excessively high margins, and I know nothing about the international arms biz... just saying that it is "theoretically possible" that someone, somewhere could get one for a $1k unit cost... if you were, for example, trying to outfit the entire Israeli army...
but it is unrealistic to think that you could do the same in the civvy market in Canada.

Go to the Ford assembly plant and ask them to build 500 f150s with a different engine from original spec and see what they would charge you.
That is if they didn't have security escort you out first.

The Mil Spec Tavor is a full auto assault rifle. Making a civie version requires retooling the line possibly even casting new dies for the plastics to make very small quantities compared to military orders (10,000+ units is not unrealistic).

IWI can charge pretty much whatever they want and we will have to like it.

Canammo then marks them up at fair market value (ie he can afford to feed his family) and there you are.

If there was an outrageous markup on these rifles one of the big boys would have undercut him by now. Such is the way of capitalism.:)

Lastly, if a big military order comes in odds are pretty good that civilian orders get bumped out.

I seem to remember hearing about the military paying $600 for a hammer that sells for $12 normally.
So much for "the military gets everything way cheaper"

That's just one of the ways they can divert funds into 'black ops' budgets.
Think about it, a $700 toilet seat? Just looks good in the books.

Dude... I am agreeing with you.
The price Can-am is charging is reasonable.
Re-read my post please...
The _only_ point I was questioning was whether the web site that someone else posted a link to was a gaming site or not (they claim to be for armour and recce).
:)

the military buys the same tools that you or i get. they get a better price. the $600 hammer and $200 screw drivers are the special alloy tools that are required for working on explosives and other ordnance (no sparks and strong). you can't get those at Princess Auto.

Sorry if my response seemed terse, definately not my intent. I was attempting to be informative but sometimes I forget that a jovial verbal response does not translate well to writing.

I just focused on your last sentence "unrealistic to think that you could do the same in the civvy market in Canada" I assumed to refer to volume purchase.

While I love the idea of spreading the joy of all shooting sports and hope for the success of all firearms dealers the arrival of 10,000 Tavors in Canada would get some unwanted attention. And talk about an ammo shortage:)

Cheers

You are supposed to put a ;) afterwards, so that we know you are kidding.:)
