The TROY M14 Modular Chassis System

I think it's also important for us chinese M14S/M305 rifle owners buying the high end kit to remember that the JAE, SAGE and Troy where not designed with possible chinese dimension tolerance issues.
So when encountering fitting issues, it's hard to know if it's the stock, or the receiver/barrel of the chinese rifle.
One stock I have had ZERO issues installing chinese rifles to is the Sage, 7 install and counting with 2 of those being the exclusively prestigious MOD 0 sage stocks.
The troy's presented little issue either and I've installed about 11.
Of 5 JAE stocks, I've only seen perfect fits on the Gen1 version.
On my bench anyways.
My composite stocks use both the usgi fiberlass stock blueprint for receiver and trigger bedding dimensions.
Also, I have "group" of barrelled test actions from early 90's norinco and poly, and M1A, and a bell 2009 poly, a norc heel stamped, a 2007 norc and a 2009 norc.
EVERY stock I make , be it a modded usgi fiberglass or the new manufacture, every one is test fitted to each of the assembled actions.
So essentially my canadian made stocks will be a drop in fit specifically designed to be compatable with the chinese rifles.
I'll make no claims that my stocks will have a miraculous affect on accuracy in any given rifle but, I make a product I stand behind and it seems by the number of my various modded usgi stocks in the hands of MANY CGN'ers ( over 140 customs stocks and countless standard stocks)
NO ONE has come to me and said, geez Thomas, this stock sux hehehe
So I keep making more

As of right now, I am offering ONLY modifications to customer supplied usgi fiberglass stocks.
In May the first run of AR stock/grip compatable stocks will be in production.
I am already getting set to start production for July on the M14SA2 Hunter/sniper and hope to get the M14SE2 full length pistol grip non collapseable stock into production before my fall hunting kicks in

My PC is down at the moment so posting pics from my crackberry is too much of a chore.
I'll bump my other thread on new manufacture stocks tomorrow when my computer is back online.
I don't want to give the impression that I'm standing on a high horse preaching doom and gloom about the high end aluminum stocks.
If you look at the number of instals I've done listed above, it's not enough for me to truly formulate a broad spectrum analysis.
Let's face it, long before the aluminum chassis stocks came to be, quality hardwood and fiberglass, correctly bedded to each individual action, where and still are consistantly producing sniper/designated marksman accuracy out 800/1000 yards, in the right hands, with the right load

One of the first things I did was order my troy stock from Fab, didnt come with the girl though
I scoped it with something lying around my safe shot one inch groups at 100m and shot three deer with it last season. I was was worried about the wieght but put on a three point sling which makes tromping around the field much more acceptable and I am getting ready to chop the barrel as the length of the entire rig is not acceptable and do a spring bear hunt. The fit into the stock took a little wrangling and I came to the conclusion that I will not be stripping the weapon regularly as the stock does not allow this without affect zero but I normally shoot 168 grain win and at $40 box not to worried. Bought it for a reliable semi auto for in the back woods and at this point I am not disappointed, Milarms is producing a stock similar that I seen at the sportsman show that is very light and appears to be nice but you know what they say about hindsight
all in all it shoots staight and LCF

Ferrule face gas band contact doesnt seem to be an issue with Springfield rifles but could be on some chinese guns.
As for no contact between ferrule and gas band lip - were you not able to get the required lip pressure with the JAE adjustment screws?
They caused me some grief initially but after playing a while - I learned how to get it right. But I havent done enough JAE's to be certain.
I am stiil not sold on the JAE. In fact, I have seen many issues now with these stocks while fitting to both M1A and chinese variants.
The receiver lock tabs are a novel idea but the real issue I am finding is at the stock ferrule. More often than not the ferrule face contacts firmly against the gas band... Very bad
And at the same time no contact between bottom of ferrule and gas band lip.... Also very bad
For the money they go for..... What exactly are you paying for. A funky shape, cool grip, adjustable cheekrest and a few rails... And the proprietory receiver locking tabs.
The JAE is Not for me...
Nice piece of kit if you can get proper fit up... A nightmare if not

no adjustment screws were present on the recent JAE's i have installed, only the locking tabs at the receiver.
My Gen II TROY MCS arrived last week and it looks great. I have a new A2 butt stock and M4 pistol grip for
it and will run a Poly Tech receiver with a standard profile 22" SEI barrel in it with a few additional upgrades.
I have a set of TROY flip up battle sights on the way...
I spoke with Tony (LAW483) about the new front band. He has his own installation procedure that keeps
everything tight and accurate. I will share this information step-by-step after I complete the build and
confirm it works. However, my TROY build and a few other things will be on the back burner for some time... I'm getting married.
