So how exactly could you get a bullet mould to properly fill out? You'd have to dump a pile of lead in there in a hurry.

I have cast balls up to 1" without difficulty. Perhaps part of the answer is keep the lead hot and once in the mould, the sheer volume of lead takes a while to cool
