The Ugliest of Stepchildren The Ruger 1022 Charger

Sure, but the mags were here for decades before the pistol even existed, so it's definitely not the fault of the CBSA for allowing legal rifle mags in the country.

I don't want to defend CBSA, they have certainly fkd us around on many occasions, but this isn't one of them IMO. This is RCMP fkery and over-stepping.

No. I believe you are mistaken. If these magazines were imported just for the Challenger, and I belive they were.
Then technically with the packaging marked as such, they should have been banned from Canadian importation at the port of entry.
It's that simple. Or should have been so.

The BC 25/22 mags were imported for decades before the Charger even existed. I believe it was available before 1980, and the Charger wasn't made until 2007.

Ruger also made their own version which was released around the same time as the Charger or after, but the BC was prior to that.

You just answered your own question. These 10+ Charger mags should have been banned from import 2007.

I had no question to answer. None of them are charger specific or pistol specific mags. The current interpretation bans all 10+ 10/22 platform mags, not just the Ruger brand. They were (wrongly) banned because a pistol became available, not because Ruger made a mag.

I believe it was in the branding that got the magazines in trouble.
Ruger put "works in both the rifle and the Charger" on some magazine or packaging and that is what instigated the ban.
had they not come right out and said it no one would have batted an eye.
in fact I believe they actually removed that from the Canadian packaging when word of the ban came down but the dye was already cast.

and I got my first ramline and BC magazines back in 1984 when I got my first 10/22.

Those ramline mags feed lips would wear so thin would get like a razor blade. After a day of shooting gophers your thumb would have a thousand little cuts. When the Steel Lips mags came out, all my ramlines got pitched.

You are correct sir. Photo of BX25 packaging from a purchase at Bass Pro in Vaughn. Allegedly.

You are correct, but that should have been the BX-25 specifically, not the BC or others. What they did was akin to banning all Glock 5+ pistol mags because Magpul starts labeling their Glock Pmag as pistol or carbine mags. That they still allow AR mags as 5 round, and LAR mags as 10 rounds, demonstrates they acknowledge the difference between identical fit mags, based on design and intended use. BC 10+ mags should still be perfectly legal to own and use in either 10/22 or Charger.

It was done out of spite over the LAR magazines...... perfect evidence of why the RCMP can't be trusted to act in good faith....... another example of dumb gun laws that are inconsistent and make no sense beyond decisive politics "aimed" at uniformed voters.
