Sorry, Dukester, I thought you were some kid dissing us more mature types...no disrespect intended. As for the apparent inconsistency in my post, I simply expressed myself poorly. The intent was to point out that if I wear my glasses, and use a peep sight, my fading eyesight isn't a problem. I don't really see the peep, my eye centers it instinctively, and the front bead and target are far enough away to be nicely in focus. Works for me, YMMV.
In the future, I will try harder to be less of a "grumpy old man"

Take the scopes off the inlines and I will accept them as equals to my flint and percussion guns for hunting and target shooting. The reason Alberta doesn't have a special muzzle loader season like Sask is that certain powers in Edmonton will not accept that inlines are "Primitive Weapons" like conventional flinters and percussions so to avoid accusations of "Discrimination" against the more numerous inline shooters simply won't have a special season. For a couple of years we had a late-October 2 week "Primitive Weapons " (muzzle loaders, shotguns and crossbows) season in some of the CWD WMU's but for some unknown reason this was not continued in 2012. Too bad because it provided extra hunting opportunities and did not add incrementally to the deer kill.
The reason that hunt was discontinued was because local biologists underestimated the winter mortality from the previous year. Combined with the numerous seasons and pretty much unlimited CWD tags, the population was decimated.

Heya Easyrider, all in the name of fun. Mostly. There are folks who would seem to think them new fangled specks of yours might be cheaters!!
I love peeps too, just not optimal for me anymore.
In reply to Hakx ..........The same thing happened here in Eastern Ontario. We had a very large deer herd for a change through the late 80's and early 90's. Our Ministry approved multiple extra tags, everyone who applied received an antlerless tag, extended the hunt to two weeks from one, brought in a muzzle-loader week. Then in 2005 and 2006 (I think) we had two of the worst winters in decades. Our herd was decimated....BUT.... our MNR reacted too slowly ($$$$ hungry that they are) and things got worse. In the late 60's and early 70's when I began hunting we had few deer but those days couldn't compare to the last few years. This year there are really no deer where we hunted but tags were issued to all who had the $$$$. Dave
